No new snow when the dogs had me up at 2am to go pee, but by the time I got up roughly this much had fallen.

Wife dropped daughter at the bus, I then had to go get her back as the buses aren't running. Those tyres are really good. Made it up and down the incredibly steep hills no bother on fresh snow.

A handy bonus the standard tyres work well :D
Slightly o/t, I've long wanted to do the NC500 out of season but I've never got round to seeing if it's possible. There is a company that has Caddy Maxi 4Motion campers for hire which would help, but it isn't the same as doing it in your own vehicle.

The weather here currently is constant rain 2°/feels like -4° with wind gusts of 20mph. No snow and no sign of it either.

There was about 3" of snow on my car when I left for work. I opened the boot and none fell into the car

I was a bit wary because I'd not tried the S6 in snow before and it's on summer Continentals but it was surprisingly OK. And the snow on the roads was clearer when I got the end of our lane. Wish I'd taken some photos now; it's still falling but what's on the ground is melting.

Out of season could be a lot of fun and the roads would certainly be a lot quieter depending on when you did it - roads have been noticeably quieter at end of summer school holidays and even moreso in the last 4 weeks or so.. Depending on when you did it there might be a lot less facilities open as catering seems to be very seasonal.

Couple of inches in leeds/bradford, not enough to be concerned about now, but has got me thinking about all-season tyres in case it decides to snow on the morning I need to do a 150 mile trip down to Stratford in a couple of weeks.

Once I get off the hill it's fine. It's the getting off the hill that's the problem...

I did the NC500 in March (I think) 2016 and it was lovely. Easy to find accommodation, quiet restaurants and the only downside was it being cold and wet, but then again it’s Scotland so that’s always a risk 😂

Ta 8-) I'd be aiming to do a Micky Flanagan, out out of season*, to get weather as per your (Ascender's) pics above. Of course, when/if I go it'll be RichB weather (like it warmed up and snow melted when I got to Bavaria)

* If I go around Christmas & New Year, does that make it in season?

The sky's clear, -3°/feels like -8°, a chunky frost on the cars but the ground is remarkably clear :? A hint of orange in the direction of the below-the-horizon sun 8-)

Why don’t we have this for England, could at least try to avoid the gritters then
Also anyone know what gritter drivers do for the other 9 months of the year?
How about not having a sig at all?

That's excellent 8-) (and quite addictive, seeing how many you can find and looking at their location on streetview :D  ).

Round these parts, for the other nine months the drivers do whatever seasonal work is applicable, iIrc.

It's that time of the year where on meetings with UK folks we inevitably discuss the weather as part of pre-meeting small talk. And I hear it's been a tough week for southern colleagues as it's feckin' freezing and they've had to resort to putting the central heating on early.

Meanwhile, Mrs Mike texted me yesterday to ask why my run was taking longer than expected.

Played 5 a side last night. Lots of slipping and falling over but miraculously no broken bones.

It's the warmest it's been for a good week or more by far :o
On the other hand, it's absolutely pishing down and blowing a gale.
Comme ci, comme ça, as the French might say - but we're not French, so there's a positive to it.

Six inches of snow early in the morning (That I woke up and saw, then decided 'fuck this' and went back to bed).

Then ten deg C so it all melted.

Apparently I have leaks in the roof of the house, as I discovered when I woke up later in the day to a loud patter of drops of water in my spare room/office.

Le sigh. It's all fucked off now, thankfully.

-4°/feels like -8° with a chunky frost this morning. I know some of you will be saying "it's warmed up then" and/or "you in Straya, cvnt?", away with ye. It's nice and clear and clean, a vast improvement on the last few weeks.
