I’ve shared it on the FaceyB group as well - looks good. I’m not sure if there is any reason why this is better than a later S3 supercharged one but it seems pretty rare and good value.

If you’re already not keen, I’d add that I really dislike that design of alloys. There was a lighter forged option which was vastly more attractive.

Revs higher. But doesn’t have a charge cooler. Swings and roundabouts.

Later S3 better on track.

At the moment, i’m slightly obsessed with the Victory alloys (and therefore the sport 160). Asking prices seem pretty varied - there’s a lovely one in Basingstoke that i can’t decide if it’s outside my budget or a decent investment worth stretching. i can’t help think i’d have as much fun in a £15-20k 111S and have the cash in my pocket.

You need to do some test driving. I maintain that whilst a Sport160 is going to be intense in many ways, it’s going to feel a bit gutless above 60 to someone who has owned M cars for as long as you have.

yeah, i need to test some, but i’m kind of into the idea of excitement at lower speeds. The M2 is always completely composed, even when doing daft speeds (which is most of the time). Plus with it being my only car - i’m completely desensitised to it. Not great when i have 6 points in my licence!

The red top looks a bit frumpy, much better without.

Victory alloys are lovely. Are they readily available to buy as a set? They’d probably only suit an S1 but a 111S would look great on them.

I absolutely loved my S160....but that was back in 2003-ish when 160bhp was big power  Looks identical to my old one - I had to check it wasn't, but mine is now going strong on 105,000 miles!

Genuine Victory alloys used to fetch a pretty price on the used market as it's generally agreed they're the best looking alloy for the S1. And I'd agree. I think they're also the heaviest !

The victory alloys are well renowned in lotus circles as the tarts choice. By far the heaviest factory wheels. AWI wheels are much lighter. Which of course were the wheels I had on mine 😜

Did you have Rotas on at some point too or am I imagining that?

I've got TMRs and AWIs, the TMRs are lighter obvs. 8-)

Revolution TC5s have recently come out in S1 sizes which I think could look quite nice, are not that expensive, and are reasonably light. I need to not buy those, and not have three sets of wheels.

Market is slow, you'd get money off that if you did some hard bargaining. Looks nice, defo worth a look IMO. There is some odd looking bits on the interior, but I've never looked round an S160, so maybe they're supposed to be there. :?

What’s the maximum permitted pages in a ‘what car’ thread before a purchase is made?

I'm waiting for this thread to go quiet, fall off the radar, then for Rich to put a reply on the Your fleet running reports thread that he's bought a Dacia Duster
