Seems Porsche are still working on the combustion engine, patenting a 6 stroke engine. Doesn’t say anything about borescore or a Smokey start up in the article though

Interesting. Although I need to see an animation…. cos my feeble mind can’t figure this

“It manages this with a crank that spins around a planetary gear while also rotating itself, meaning it doesn’t just rotate around a solid central point. Rather, there are two top dead-centre and two bottom dead-centre positions within the rotational annulus. That also means that the piston stroke and compression will differ across the two top dead-centre and bottom dead-centre states. Put simply, there isn't a set compression and stroke, as per a fixed-crank four-stroke engine.”

Seems a bit late in the day if they're banning ICEs in 11 years anyway.

Is that still the plan - all hybrid from 2030 and no ICEs from 2035?

I assume there are lots of other markets around the world which have not yet put a time limit on the end of combustion engines.

Seems the combustion engine isn’t dead. Toyota making a 4 cylinder that it’s saying can go up to 600bhp and wants to be seen as great as a 2jz

Pretty good explanation/anaylsis here. Could create an interesting 9-cylinder engine with this concept....... :geek:

Jump to 1min50s if you want to skip straight to the 6-stroke specifics.

It’s a really interesting way of doing things, I wonder what they will sound like out in the open.

Lots of ic engine development yet, we are over 95% efficient on our greenhouse engines which is better than anything electric could ever be. It’s a bit of a niche way of using engines though.

I always imagined that Koenigsegg would lead the way with exciting new IC engine technology, I’m glad Porsche are taking it on.

Dave!
