Freebie Alpine track day

Track time at Brands Hatch in your own car and in an A110S.

Got emailed through to me as a subscriber offer but the security on that seems lax (are you a subscriber? are you sure you're a subscriber? well we'll take your word for it). You have to say what car you are bringing, presumably so they can stratify by who they think is most likely to buy a A110.

I'm a subscriber but didn't receive this. I do get the usual e-mails telling us the issue will be delivered late due to an embargo.

They are clearly on a push - @scotta joined a similar sounding Alpine promo event at Knockhill a few weeks back (think he drove A110R?). Handily his Elise was awaiting delivery of new front discs at the time, scuppering a potentially interesting back-to-back track comparison.

I believe there was some kind of agreed "no faster than x mph" (on the main straight) for the Alpine drive, but I don't know details.

I've signed up - should have my MX5 back from its wrap by 17th. It's a bit of a trek to Brands but I think a free track day in my new car which I bought in preference to an A110 is too good an opportunity to pass up. Will see if they invite me.

I don't know if I will pass muster in my Tesla but we'll see. I'm banking on short notice plus not a lot of people getting the email. Will be nice to see you if we both get the call up Jobbo!

Sounds very similar. Open track day in the morning with driving their cars in the afternoon. Its designed around joseph public however so your limited as to how hard you can push their cars. I drove their A110R. I got a bit of leeway with the instructor to push a bit harder (because race driver) but officially there was an 80 mph speed limit. The format was that the instructor drives for a few laps to show you lines and braking points. That part went along the lines of "Have you driven the track before?" Ive raced here in Modsports and won my class. "Ah I thought i recognised you..,I wont need to show you anything then" He still had to officially do the laps. We swapped and i got my laps. He said keep it to 80mph on the main straight past the pits where every one was standing. I was into three figures on the back straight out of sight however. He did tell me to take a bit less kerb however and reminded me that the R had Carbon Fibre wheels...My defense was that it was the fastest line

the trackday element was just an ordinary open pit lane drive your own car affair. No performance limits imposed.

If you do get accepted and are looking for trackday cover - https://trackday.moris.co.uk/ were competitive for me at Anglesey (I don't have trackday cover on my current policy).

I didn't read the full e-mail in the Alpine forum on PH until now - though I did reply to it yesterday - and have just seen it says:
"If you are an owner of one of the cars listed below, hold a valid UK driving licence and you’re available on Tuesday 17th September 2024 then simply register here.

The list of cars is any A110, Audi TT S and RS, BMW M2, Jaguar F-Type, Porsche 981 Cayman, Lotus Emira, Evora or Exige.
"

So I may be excluded on that basis. Interestingly so would @DaveE because his 981 is a Boxster not a Cayman, and I'd have thought an A110 would be a target car to upsell to an MX5 owner like me so maybe they'll still respond with a space. Not heard yet.

Maybe if you tell them you chose an MX-5 over an Alpine that'll clinch you an invite :)

Or maybe they'll shun me as somebody who has already made his mind up

Now seen on the evo instagram stories so not just subscribers by the look of it. Does say “own a premium sports car?” On it

What if you can demonstrate that your Elise is faster than an Evora and an exige 430 cup :D

I didn't get a place. Seems a few people on PH who already have Alpines have got places though. Bit odd for existing customers to get it rather than potential buyers but their decision.

Maybe they don’t want ScottA and all the other guys banned from Superkarts to show up and make their products look silly?

Nothing for me either. "Unexpectedly high demand." Apparently I am on a waiting list.

Admittedly not the first time my name has unhappily been added to a list.

Well you should be. If I was you I'd take up Formula One, and if you drive like you did at Anglesey you'd probably be the best in the country.
