After 27 years they'll stop producing content.

Mostly FTAO @Beany, I suspect.

It used to be one of my go-to sites. Another piece of my early twenties tech geekery is no more. They were one of the best sites, alongside Tom's Hardware, with in-depth, high quality content. All the more impressive as it was started by a 14yo.

I remember having 10 shortcut keys on my MS keyboard back at work 20 years ago - I used to open the all in the morning for a read. Many of those sites are frozen/gone now. Basically everyone which didn't adopt YouTube alongside their regular publishing model...

Anandtech
TheInquirer
Techreport (although still going it's not a hardware site anymore)
Hexus.net
BrightSideofNews (same as techreport).

Such a shame.

That's really sad. I used to read it and I'm not even in the tech business.

Mind you, TV Cream is also shutting down this month and deleting all of its content because hosting it still costs money. That's a real loss too. A generation has passed since the internet was full of interesting and useful stuff.

Yup, although to be fair, I used to be on there daily, then it was weekly, then it was when I remembered, and I've only really looked at it lately for big releases.

Ian Cutress, formerly senior editor there, had some thoughts on it.

Such a shame.
I used to play Quake 2 online (Barrysworld) with the guy who started hexus.net
I also found someone on Pistonsheads that I also used to play with (Durzel) at a similar time.
