BTCC lost/dropped the Ginetta support races at the start of 2023. Which was a real shame as they were generally fabulous . Particularly the Ginetta Juniors. Over-enthusiastic 14-17 year olds in identical RWD machinery delivered some superb racing as each spotty oik tried to eke out a tenth of a second advantage from the next scallywag.

I'm not sure why that happened, but the replacement for the Junior-category BTCC support race is now announced.

Thankfully still RWD. Engine is 1.9l (power level undisclosed at the moment) hauling around 850kg.

Kinda looking forward to seeing the first race, but man they ugly. The designer(s) appears to have gone back and mashed up various 80's/90's hot hatches, and not really managed to pick the best bits.

Just to give an example > 2022 round of Ginetta Juniors at Brands (full GP circuit) with 8 cars squabbling over 3rd place.

I would watch this in preference to current F1 all day. Every day.

Ninety four thousand pounds...Plus spares...plus entry...plus running costs...

ETA - Entry for the season - £35k. Tyres £10k min. plus testing, fuel and brakes.

Mercedes do a 1898cc petrol engine from the original A series. 124bhp - Which sounds about right power wise. probably cheap to buy off the shelf.

Nope - Its a mazda engine. Ive seen photos now.
