Convert a car seat to an office chair?

Did someone here get this done? Or is that just my brain creating its own fake news?
I've managed to f*ck my back with another weekend of loft-clearing, but had to pop to a meeting first thing and those seats are so supportive. I had the obvious thought I should see about buying a used one and getting it put on a base of some sort so I can use it in the office.

I have an office chair made out of an aircraft seat, which is the most comfy chair I've ever owned. However it was done by the seat manufacturer (MIRUS) not a home made jobby.

That's very cool!
The person I bought the BMW seat from sold the passenger side one to someone who was making a seat. The big thing to consider is that the squab on a car seat is much thicker than an office chair so it could end up with the seat not going low enough.

The other important consideration is that a car seat can be ergonomic for the position you sit in a car which is not the same as the position you sit in an office chair - legs out, vs legs down.
Be wary about just assuming that a car seat will be 'better' just because it's a car seat - if you're sitting with your legs hanging off it, it'll be no better for your back than anything else.

The best of both worlds, ugly gaming chair and real car seat technology

Aircraft seats are incredibly cool
@Beany - that's why I'd like to find someone to do it properly. Honestly, the m3 one is just so supportive for my back, even on a bad day like today.

So the obvious answer is to get a full pro SIM racing setup and use it for work!

Car / plane seats are great because they’re designed to be sat in in a fixed position for 3+ hours at a time. You can’t really adjust your position much while driving. I don’t know many people who sit rigidly in an office chair without getting up for a few minutes or adjusting their position / posture every now and then.
I’m not sure the positioning is that different really other than perhaps setting the base a bit flatter, not a problem if you’re using a seat with an adjustable back rather than a fixed back bucket seat.
I’d love an e36 sports seat as my chair. I don’t know if they’re genuinely really comfortable or if my body has just moulded to their sale after so many mile and years of use
I did have a little look earlier to see if anyone made a wide, low base specifically for you to be able to easily add a car seat with some custom brackets but didn’t find anything.
Car seats are also blooming heavy, although I guess you could lighten them if they no longer have to be crash resistant!

Absolutely agree for car seats. Plane seats* often have short seat bases, so airlines can have a smaller pitch between the seat rows without compromising the ability to exit quickly. Whilst turning one into an office chair is still CAF, it’s probably not that comfortable.
* not transatlantic business / first class or (probably) pilot seats

Taking out the air bag and seatbelt pretensioner would probably be a good start.

I've had this 3 years, honestly everything else is shite in comparison. I think it's what they were putting in Bombardier CRJ regional jets.
