In a galaxy, far, far away... (Wick, early 80s)

Post by Ascender »

Have just found all my Star Wars stuff in the loft. Talk about bringing back memories.... And most of it in pretty good condition given how much I played with it.

I've chucked a post up on a Star Wars forum to see what it's worth. Otherwise I'll just convince myself it's a good idea to start collecting them and before you know it I'll have one of those collectors cases on the wall.

Ah, back when the co-op had the chromed seperators between the shop and the tills and as a youth, I could spin on them.

Wheeeeeee

What it's worth? A bloody fortune probably! I had a Luke Skywalker from the original film but it's long gone. I'm not sure it would have been worth the full whack with a chewed lightsabre anyway

All the figures I can remember having are from the same part of RotJ:

Plus I think Luke and Han from around the same scene.

Obviously they got trashed instantly.

@Ascender I reckon you've got some good stuff there. Beware someone on the Starwars forum saying "Nah, it's not worth much, but I'll take it off your hands".

I was surprised by how good condition most of it was. It was well played with but has been in boxes so I guess nothing is really yellowed or trashed. I do remember my Dad thinking it would help me not lose the guns if he glued them on to the figures' hands...

I'm still kind of tempted to just collect the figures and spend too much money on a case for them and ditch the rest. I've got some Star Wars lego which covers the ships pretty well but there's definitely some nostalgia about the figures in particular.

There's a whole trade in reproduction weapons that collectors frown upon because they're not genuine. But I don't think that would bother me if I did do this.

I recognise an awful lot of those from my childhood - mine were handmedowns, I was too young/not born for the first round.

I still have a few kicking about that I gave to my little boy - a '77 Chewie, an '83 Gamorrean guard and a '80 Luke. All are in ok condition but they're far too common to be worth anything beyond being played with.
