Car for a new driver

Post by Jay-me »

I’m sure over the years this has been covered many, many times before. Son is 17 in July and I’ve been looking at cars to get. Looking at aygo, c1, 107. Was going to look an an aygo today but it sold yesterday morning. Any other suggestions?
Price around £2-£2.5k

Scotta asked about this recently, might be a few helpful nuggets here:

Yeah Scott just got a Dacia Sandero I think it was. It used to be that Peugots and Volvos were far cheaper than the Polo/Corsa type.

I have fond memories of being 17 and having a Hillman Imp. Ask your dads. :)

Is there any difference at all between Aygo, C1 and 107? All the same car built in the same factory. Something like a Fiat Panda must be worth considering.

Aygo will be different to insure as it has bespoke interior and exterior compared to the Peugeot and Citroen which are pretty much identical. Whether this makes it more expensive to insure due to bespoke stuff or cheaper because more accidents because there’s more of the others is a complete lottery
