I used to be with "it"
I used to be with "it"
But apparently they've changed what "it" is.
Reading social media these days and it's just gibberish half the time.
"Based" - Based on what?
"Unalived" - don't get it, longer and more difficult to say than "dead"
"Sent me" - where?
"Rest in Power" - doesn't even make sense
"Tea" - not the drink?
"Rent free" - ironic when rent is sky high
Queen's English has been going downhill ever since she's no longer around to enforce it.

Re: I used to be with "it"
Yes, you're old - deal with it, it's always been this way.
Re: I used to be with "it"
Unalived, I had always assumed, was because certain phrases such as Dead, killed, suicide et al were banned, particularly by TikTok. SA’d instead of Sexually Assaulted also seems to be another
Re: I used to be with "it"
Ideal for someone in Bridlington, though.
And yeah, I'm in a discord with some of the Youth of Today (IE in their 20s), and they love it when I deliberately misuse youth speak.
They also like letting me know the best way to make my mid-20s staff cringe by, for example, describing one of them as 'my little pog-champ' and letting the know that they've really got rizz, and hearing about their reactions.
I'm a complete monster.

Re: I used to be with "it"
I've lost count of the correct word to describe a muscular person. At various points it's been ripped, stacked, then it became hench, now I think it's something else.
I'm too old for this shit. Although I rather enjoy acting like an old git, I'm spending quite a bit of time with people in their 20s at work, doesn't seem to bother them.

Re: I used to be with "it"
Where is Zedleg when you need him?
Re: I used to be with "it"
Aside, if anyone's unclear on the reference:
I've used this a couple of times at work when I've rolled my eyes at the way the youths talk.

I think Tea is tattle - probably started off being an abbreviation spoken as ‘T’ but as usual people online can’t spell.

What is disquieting is that many of these young people are now old enough to hold important positions in our society.
Re: I used to be with "it"
Using different lingo doesn't make them thick.
Just annoying.

Oi. No. I liked Zed.
Re: I used to be with "it"
Yes indeed. Though having googled it, I think the etymology goes back way further because it’s long been used in the US (‘spill the tea’ rather than ‘spill the beans’).
Re: I used to be with "it"
I don’t want to be a Yoof, it’s confusing and complicated.
Although was at a church concert on Friday night with 3 youth bands on and the ones getting up and dancing to The Jam, Bowie, The Killers etc have me hope for a brighter future!
Dave!

Re: I used to be with "it"
I believe tea is the truth or gossip and stems from drag race where they “spill the tea”
However I’m as out of touch as the rest of you lot so fuck knows

Re: I used to be with "it"
it's always good when the explanation includes a word or phrase that you don't understand!
"Drag race", is that some sort of rhyming slang or ah, just thought - is it that drag game show with Ru Paul!?
