Mito Man wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2024 6:34 pm Ha, I’ve thought about this too much because our woodlands has a village 3 miles away which has a prick living in it who is pretty similar to Gavsters neighbour in terms of having far too much time on their hands and being a nuisance.
Current record is calling the police whenever someone is cutting a tree down, one time he called the police on the forestry commission.
Calling the firefighters whenever someone has a bbq in the woods because there’s a forest fire.
Calling the environment agency when put gravel down to renovate a road and saying it is “dumping of highways waste”
Objecting every planning application within 15 miles of the village (he has a specific Facebook group for this with similar nutters from across the country in it).
Writing letters multiple pages long to Michael Gove about how the law should be changed to stop planning permission and building in the countryside and then putting a copy of it on the Facebook group.
Anyway, he’s also very vocal about migration problem on the main village Facebook page and the dilution of British culture. The usual.

So my solution would be to buy up the houses around him and rent them out to immigrants for a very cheap rate.
There’s actually loads of orchards here who hire in people from overseas and house them in shitty caravans, I’d let them use these homes. Hopefully that’ll make him fuck off.
I mean, if you've won £100m on the Euromillions, it's yours to spend however you like....but taking time and energy to annoying a local nimby twat wouldn't be on my radar as something to do.

$200m seems cheap for that, feels like it’ll cost over a billion here.

Similar to the above, but more ornate, and I’d want the option for everything to open at the touch of a button.

As it’s all imaginary I want the most awesome outdoor kitchen in the world beside it too. Can I have one of those bars in the pool too. Maybe with a Tesla robot just serving me any cocktail I want non stop.
Found a new one for your Mito...

House and location look lovely, but can’t say that about the pool structure I’m afraid - it’s just an agricultural RSJ workshop with conservatory style windows.
Maybe turn that into the garage and move the pool to the tennis court area.
I do need to visit Dublin some day though. Everyone I know here tells me to not bother but they said the same about Liverpool and I really liked it there 😂

I guess if you can afford that place, you can afford to have your private medical/fire response team on-hand for when you want to use it :?

It's a bit pokey for the money. For only a snip more at £19m how about this:

12 main bedroom, 5 bathrooms, 7 cottages, a farm - 713ha in total

Only £4m if you just fancy the main house...When 4 bed 1930s semis near us are on the market at £1m that rather puts things into perspective. Although I dread to think about the upkeep

Yeah that could approach £1 million a year in upkeep. You’d need a small army of people just to maintain everything and a manager to manage them.
There’s a reason all of these large estates eventually turn into business ventures with a few rooms left to live in.

I’d have the first house, the modern one, with the second grounds and pool (with a completely new roof structure) and a hard court instead of the grass court for me so we can play basketball. I like a bit of basketball

That's just up the road from some of my wife's family. Mortgage calculator suggests a very reasonable £102k/month, so that's obviously affordable.

Dublin’s great and all but it’s not really Ireland or Irish. It’s “like a 14 year old girl wearing her older sisters clothes and makeup pretending to be London”

But if you do go, take the time to jump on the dart out to Dalkey. It’s a lovely little spot

I've no desire to buy a huge house in the countryside miles away from my friends or start living like a high roller. I'd probably put £1m or so on a nice but not extravagant two bedroom flat in Shoreditch. Would probably want to do a round the world trip before too long and would prioritise that over cars for the first year, maybe rent some nice cars on parts of the trip. Then take my time researching cars when I get back. Maybe buy a Singer 911 or something like that as a gateway to get access to concours events and supercar owner meets then figure out what I want to spend big money on.

I'd probably be happy enough winning the regular lottery tbh, but having enough to only spend part of the interest gained not the principle would be ideal.

This could work for me. I'd need to employ an interior designer to finish it, but the workshop space is "ample".

Ha ! I’ve been there, I mentioned it on here at the time. He’s tidied it up a lot since then, none of that exterior landscaping / pool was done when I saw it.

Looking again it might even be a different owner now, previous one had lots of actual workshop equipment to do actual work. It looks like a showroom now,

As Mito says, it'll likely need the main house to be run as some.sort of business to keep it up. Be interesting to see the income from the farm and cottages though

I'd be happy living in the garage block.

If the décor is too minimalist or whatever the fuck that is, my brain starts to silently scream and it makes me very, very uncomfortable.

I'll pass on this property.
