Can't disagree with that. I reckon a sub-2000 miler will be in the sub-£60k bracket before long, then people will realise they're worth it and prices will firm up.

The total number delivered includes overseas markets so RHD UK Emiras won't be massively common.

Well dealer cars are now at £64k so you'd easily get private examples under £60k on the basis the p/x is mid-50's and no doubt they'll keep sliding.

If you can buy at P/X price, do it and I'll give you a grand on top to have it straight off you.]

Got to be a light colour, which basically means Nimbus Grey.

Also, that's a lot of £££ for its age and mileage.

What Mike said.

Am currently working out which colour I like best on a new one. Soul Crystal Red is lovely but by far the most common. I think Aero Grey is the one.

Something about the stitching down the centre of the seats makes me feel uncomfortable. Looks like someone that's just come out of A&E I think.
How about not having a sig at all?

It’s a great colour but it’s by far the most common one on the current shape MX5 so I’d not choose it. Think I’m going Aero Grey.

I thought you were buying an Emira?

Soul red is the best colour, but if you saw how I dress you would deffo ignore any aesthetic option from me.

They look like they’re made of skin (I know they are made of skin but they usually put some effort into disguising it).

I do like the Emira but the reality is, it's a lot of money (even if it gets to sub-£60k) to tie up in a car I won't use that often. Half the amount gets me a brand new MX5 which I will probably keep forever - I really regret selling both my previous mk1s now. Got to be the ND3 to get the Recaro seats since I really dislike the colour of the orange special edition.

I don't rule out the possibility that I might get an Emira as well at some point, though chances are I'll be happy with the S6 and MX5 and will add a 992 to them when I can justify it.

The few niggles I have with the Emira that have stopped me checking Auto Trader each day are:
- The manual gearbox is the right choice but I can't help thinking I'd get more from it if I went for an auto.
- It's a special thing but I don't know how much that feeling lasts after a year or two.
- It is refined, plush and useable every day, and that was always something which annoyed me about my Boxster; that takes away the sense of occasion.

The simplicity, lightness and reliability of an MX5 really suit my wants. I can take it out on a sunny day, drop the top and enjoy it even going slowly. The latest one is quick enough (6.2s to 60 I've seen in one test - it is about 180bhp/tonne without driver) but not so quick that you can't find anywhere to plant your foot or wring it out. The manual gearshift is something you do for the fun of it; I did that in the Transit I hired, which I didn't in the Emira despite a decent length test drive. Basically I think there's more simply joy to be had in an MX5, and it's a brilliant antidote to other cars without going properly hard core; I can still go to work in it wearing a suit.

If this causes me to buy another, my revenge will be influencing you to invest in bbrgti upgrades

Did you have a test drive?

I don’t think the 184 “needs” any more power really and the engine really suits the car. It’s my favourite out of the five I’ve owned including the supercharged nc.

I test drove a 2019 ND2 last year - liked the car, did not like the spec of the one I drove (cloth seats, Machine Grey, black pack). Here's my post: viewtopic.php?p=189576

And @MikeHunt, I did think selling yours was a folly. And I'm already thinking about lowering it, getting the Mazda OEM alcantara interior bits (with grey stitching) and potentially getting another set of wheels. And maybe even wrapping it something like Laguna Blue because that was great on my last mk1.
