Tedious but traditional New Car thread

As far as I'm concerned, previous owner (Zonda) didn't map it, previous owner has no direct evidence of being mapped, so until I prove otherwise, it may well just be a particularly healthy example that's adapted the engine and gearbox to being driven hard on high octane fuel - which is something these cars do. Zondas old one could have had a sticky throttle body (something that is a thing that gets grumbled about on the forums) for all we collectively know.

In short, I'm not declaring a mod based on bum dyno, sorry all I'm pretty sure that's the sort of logic you lot used to give me shit for

I am going to get it checked though, I don't want to find out it's been decatted at an MOT, which sods law would dictate would happen just before i need to do a 300 mile work trip. I'll work out where I'm going from there.

My M240i was particularly healthy. When i sold it to my car dealer map he sent me a text "No way this is standard" It was. Not even a performance filter fitted. One of the car youtubes dyno'd a new supra and it had 380 bhp out of the box. Realise the 35i has slightly less power but the point stands.

Don't know a lot about these, but seems a lot of engine in a small car, read some scare stories about the rear end been lively, but being from Pistonheads, I took with a large pinch of salt as there are a lot of armchair experts there.

Apparently the rear end isn't that well located as standard, and firmer bushes for the subframe help a lot - they aren't known for having a Lotus-like sense of body control at the rear. It is, at the end of the day, a big-engined fairly high spec 1-series, and most owners won't be giving it 8/10ths on a subsided, crusty backroad so I imagine they decided to save the solid subframe bushes for the M2

As I say, a mini-GT is fine for me, if i want something to hammer into the dust - which I'm sure I will again at some point - then I'll probably move house so I have a driveway/garage available first, so that I can buy something a bit older, tinker with it, and not have to worry about leaving it on axle stands on the street, etc.

I bought an E30 325i Sport from someone on here around 2001, which RichB then bought from me, so that was a 3-forum-member car
I also bought Ste's BMW aheM5 sometime around 2004 and Gav's little Nissan in 2022 as well. Also took Jobbo's Brompton T-line off him.
Another tenuous one is my old 328i Sport, which I bought off a forum member too, however they weren't on the forum at the time... that was my brother.

I sold my old Tannoy 609 speakers (plus stands, and about a year later once I found them - the grilles) to Mudge. But I don't think that is sufficiently vehicle-related to count.

I also sold my Impreza to Paul from the Cotswolds, who was active (a bit) on the old forum.
