Sorry for the slow reply - I've been off on my hols.
Funnily enough, at the time of "peak hovercraft", we actually looked at doing something around setting up a commercial hovercraft service.
You can pick up those big Griffons remarkably cheaply - IIRC there was a 30 seater one come up for £250k
And then there was a island in the Tyne estuary came up for sale very cheap. Very cheap because nobody could get to it.
So we kicked around the idea of doing a property development on the island and supporting it with a daily hovercraft service.
As you can imagine, the idea went no further...
