Two years ago it was complicated and expensive to build an ML platform to interpret Captchas.

It's not any more.

That's all it is.

Captchas like that have _always_ been easy to overcome by some simple code, let alone 2 years ago. Any site nowadays using one like that deserves to be overrun by bots. The smarter money uses a proper bot management tool.

OpenAI have announced a feature which makes A.I. videos.
https://openai.com/sora

Mind boggling in terms of how the future of animation and fiction films will be.

I mean, they won't be released for profit, because then they absolutely will be sued out of existence by every billion dollar company that even touches video, because all the data used for it comes from 'loosely protected' copyright video sources. Which won't be 'loosely' protected for long, as soon as any of the big companies sees anything that remotely relates to their content in there.

They're literally lighting their own funeral pyre, and by god I can't wait to watch it burn.

Having flounced away from having to do anything code related about 6 months ago because "it's too hard" and it's "nerd stuff" I have now re-embraced it by using chatgpt or copilot to write simple R scripts for me. For the most part, it simplifies it right down, although it can't deal with the harder stuff.

In any case, it's essentially automated my existing workflow of asking my tech savvy friends to fix my code when it doesn't work.

Make sure you understand all the calls and dependencies it uses. There are plenty of examples of it using insecure and flawed code snippets, libraries and so on that at best don't work, at worst leak like a sieve.

Edit: for @Explosive Newt. And as the guy writing our corporate policies on the topic, make sure you're not falling foul of acceptable use policies, data handling and so on.
