LTN's are top-flight NIMBY victories. 8-)

"Our streets are being used as a rat-run - it is dangerous!"

OK - we can install a barrier that will prevent vehicles travelling from A to B along this street. :geek:

"That sounds reasona... hang on... NO - of course we the local dwellers still want to use it as a rat-run. We are complaining about non-local dwellers. The dangerous ones"

OK - I guess we could make it so that you can use the rat-run with a permit, but others without a permit can't use it? :?

"Yes that sounds just perfect!"

Buut - this will have a knock-on effect, increasing the traffic for people who reside in the area adjacent to that in which you live.... :?

"Yeah - fuck them though".

The old phrase “don’t shit where you eat” comes to mind.

Ugh.. CPZ’s are today head scratch. The signs say controlled zone so I stayed away, now looks like it’s fine to drive but not park (I think!).. and modern developments may not be entitled to a permit to park  :?

Chiswick and Kew.. make it clearer please! Richmond doesn’t accept most credit cards in their parking, Barnes/Mortlake has limited parking…. this is getting ridiculous!

Nothing in our area (SE1 near Bermondsey St) that was built after about 2006 is allowed a residents parking permit.

I thought it’s mainly because most new build homes have underground parking so they don’t need it. And if you’re silly enough to buy a new house with no parking and you have a car then that’s self inflicted!

I think the take away from all of this is just to avoid London altogether.

You don't get these issues in a small village in the north of Scotland.
