They only ever use half of it, what a waste. It's going in the wrong direction anyway. The most famous countdowns launch things into space; "10, 9, 8, 7,...", the Countdown clock goes 0-30. It should be called Countup. Maybe that's why they don't use the second half, the hand visually going up while supposedly counting down would confuse people.
