This was a new one for me - only made aware of it via reading one of my Christmas presents (The Secret Horsepower Race).
24 cylinders - effectively two boxer flat 12's lying side by side with their cranks joined together by gears.
As far as I can tell the Napier Sabre was fitted to the Hawker Tempest Mk V. 36.7litre. 2200 bhp. Sleeve valves to provide more x-sectional area. Clever stuff.

I was not aware of this. However I was aware of the BRM H-16 which being a pair of stacked flat 8s is 8 less than the H24

Yeah the H16 was bananas both simulated in Grand Prix Legends and recorded on the CD from Into the Red.
That H24 is quite something, not sure it'll make the same 16,000rpm as the 16 though.
Vaguely remember seeing some made old car at Cholmondley (Chummly?) With an X configured engine with many cylinders. 2 V's stacked.

Still the best sounding engine ever IMO
From that guttural low down rumble, to the top end shriek, nothing has the range IMO

Hmmmm that sounds like the recording from Into the red, now googling it I was mistaken it IS the V16 in ITR not the H16.
There's bugger all decent videos of high revving H16 out there, probably because of its terrible reputation for blowing up if it got out of bed on the wrong side.
