I'm amazed at how SJ's 360 is outperforming his Flying Spur.

Perhaps next year's vote can be solely from SJ's car purchases this year. Steve, get on with it :lol:

Surely there can only be one winner for so many reasons... Well, two reasons.
Cheers,

Mike.

I wasn’t expecting the Bentley to be in the running tbh, it’s not really “Evo”.

Evo = Expensive, very opulent.

Clear win for @Sundayjumper's 360 8-) which combined with the Bentley took 40% of the votes :D

Congrats to SJ, a worthy winner. I think the M3 Touring deserved more votes than it got personally. I love the 360, but reading a bit about the buying journey from new made it my top pick.

I'm sorry for talking votes off others for not a proper new purchase... but nice that people liked it. :)

Steve had my vote - clearly the most evo car purchase made on the forum in 2023!

Nepotism aside, the M3 wagon was my other favourite. We've waited 30+ years for BMW to make an M3 Touring, it's one of the most long-awaited 'evo' car variants in years. I really expected it to get more votes.

Cheers everyone 8-) I will spend the prize money wisely, and the trophy itself now has pride of place in my hallway. It's as big as the TV !

I've been blathering about a 360 for years, not ever since they came out mind, they were pure unobtanium then and tbh I didn't pay much attention. The only one I really remember is that the big boss at the place I worked at in about 2002 had one and it was almost always there in his reserved parking space by the entrance. The glass over the engine was a big "wow" factor.

Then as the car aged, and I aged, and we both turned out to be undesirable and widely pooh-poohed by the cognoscenti, I warmed more and more to the 360. Spotting a few more IRL (I don't live in London, you don't often see this kind of thing around here) cemented it. They don't always photograph well but they look great on the road. So from about 2019 it was on my list. Then COVID, blah, and suddenly it's 2023. A car pops up at a dodgily named dealer with high mileage and an appealing price. And here we are. It needed a few small jobs and will no doubt need a few more but that's how I roll. I certainly couldn't afford it if I was running to the dealer every time the car sneezes.

I voted for you Duncs ! The work you put into researching and speccing exactly what you wanted deserves recognition. To me that's more "EVO" than just buying a car.

FWIW my other two votes were the M3 Touring, for all the reasons already mentioned, and GG's 911 because it's traditional for whichever 911 the magazine has just reviewed to win the real ECOTY award :lol: and also I like Porsches.

In future years we should have a FeCOTY meet to establish a true winner!

But I agree with what others say about the fun of reading about the journeys. One of the main reasons I come back to the forum are the buying threads and the posts in fleet running reports. Most of those top placed really contributed to the forum with interesting stories.

It's definitely great to read about the bits of work people do or interactions people have with their cars (particularly in the case of a Ferrari which don't usually get touched by their owners) or in the case of the M3, the buying and decision making journey.
