Anyone had any experience with the likes of cinch and Cazoo? Or should the be avoided like the plague?

We've sold two cars to Cazoo and they couldn't be more different from WBAC. Just a quick inspection of the car and no chipping the price, obviously you have to be honest in the description but when filling in the condition report on the website it does guide you well.

The BMW is just back from the specialist. Reconditioned gearbox, torque converter and the diff oil has been changed. The changes are smooth and crisper than before. It will take some time to trust it again but I'm sure I'll forget all about that, stick it in sport and charge across country when I next gather my kids. I'm hoping to do some miles in it this year.


It's one hell of a shock getting back into it after the Jimny! :lol:

Ive just realised that 2023 was the first year I didnt buy or sell a car since I passed my test.

EQV300: while it's perfect for daily trips, we regularly need to travel to Oswestry, a good 150 miles round trip, which is on the upper limit of the battery range, especially in winter. So the plan is to go back to diesel. I think unless you have a Tesla, any sort of medium distance journey is a faff. Mercedes released a slick V300 facelift in December, but they don't currently have a building slot. My company owns the EVQ and I need work out a way to depreciate the car and sell it off.

MX5: I promised myself that I would use it or lose it. I really enjoyed an epic Northern England adventure, but the rest was an epic fail with other things getting in the way of drivers and trackdays. I sold it last year, but the buyer vanished, now there are 2 new folks are interested now, so it might be gone by the weekend. Every time I hop in, I can't quite make my mind up about selling. It just sits there gathering dust, though, and passing the MOT with only 4,600 miles was a bit embarrassing. Maybe I'll invest the proceeds in Bitcoin, retire next year, and cruise around in an NSX-R.

M550i: Im one of those spooked by car troubles so, when BMW diagnosed a nasty coolant/oil leak, the car was practically dead to me. Finding a replacement that ticks all the boxes feels impossible. The new BMWs are a definite no, Panamera or AMG GT look good, but I'd need an older one to even come close to the price, and they're nowhere near as Q. If I keep it, I was impressed with AC Schnitzer suspension on the Z4 might be a tempting upgrade.

Bought a Polo for stepdaughter from Cinch that was painless.. even parked around the corner and hid his logo’d top when he knocked so we could surprise her

EQV - I have been wondering what happens when you want to sell if you have taken all of the incentives to buy it into your company. Be interested to know how that works; you might end up with a taxable gain if it's depreciated more in the books than
I bet you miss the MX5 when it's gone.
M550i, you need to go and beast it and enjoy it to get the trust back. If the car is right - and, frankly, there's little or no alternative which does what it can - then it should be possible. My E39 540i Touring broke down on the way home from buying it back in 2007 and I still loved it to bits. However, there must be some good deals on Panameras, surely?

Havng done what I intended last year up the point of buying the Golf anyway for this year I will buy another Mini to replace the gubbed one, and I very much hope that is it for the whole year, maybe even 2 or 3! :D

Range Rover - who knows - keep and insure or swap out for something else - perhaps a Cayenne.
911 - keep and actually use. I think its only done 1100ish miles in the 6 months I've had it.
Smart Forfour - wife was tentatively looking at replacing it with a Mini but her enthusiasm waxes and wanes. Its pretty unbeatable for its intended purpose as a school run car that we don't care about too much.

Well the 968 and M3 are still in storage. After nearly 3 years, hopefully I'll finally be able to get the out of storage and back on the road, before the middle of this year!

Other than briefly driving them in August 2021, they have been sat in storage...so seized hydraulics are a little bit of a concern :lol:

We take my son swimming every Sunday morning and every time there's a GLB parked in the drop off area (!) so I had a good gawp at it today. It's funny how you suddenly see a lot of particular cars around when you have an interest in a certain model.

I'm more certain than ever that a GLB/EQB will replace the Yeti, as that's the next car to get changed anyway. Whether that'll creep into this year I don't know, and somewhat doubt, but it seems to be logical choice, if I can get my wife to accept the size of it (f'nar).

E53 is what I'm aiming for and that won't be till later in '25 I guess.

I’d have thought it wa a lot bigger than a Yeti, is it not? I saw one today and though of it as a mini GLS as opposed to something between an A and C (in the Mercedes vernacular)

The problem is that when we got the Yeti we just had one child with no plans for more. Now we've a second and it's harder to put all their paraphernalia in the Yeti, and if hers becomes the family car to take on holiday then that's definitely a no-no with the Yeti.

The Volvo is nice but just too small, definitely.
