It is the only transportation purchase I've made. It has wheels, gears, hydraulic disc brakes and so on. Doesn't that qualify?

Didn't pay that. However, even at the full price you'd struggle to find anything else with those components on it for less than four thousand, so it isn't an unreasonable price. I got a very good deal on mine.

Also, bicycle prices have gone very silly in the last few years.
