The SSO Holiday Gift Guide
Re: The SSO Holiday Gift Guide
Oh hi, it's me, your secret santa friend I don't want to be greedy, so I'll just go for the $100-500k bracket. You don't even need to bother wrapping it, I'll be able to guess from the shape anyway.

The ceramic brakes for the F40 owner in my life seems a little specific.
Otherwise, rather lovely.
Perhaps place at the bottom a recommendation on how to become an SSO...

"$500-$1,000
The Car Shoe was the original driving shoe and is my favorite. They are beautifully crafted, very comfortable, and wear well. They have two stores in Italy and can be ordered on-line (www.carshoe.com)."
Accepting that I may simply be unfamiliar with fine footwear, this site may well provide the answer to the question asked in relation to Harry's recent 288GTO video - "What the absolute fuck has Harry got on his feet?"
Although they do appear to make something that one could be seen dead in https://www.carshoe.com/gb/en/men/colle ... F0002.html

Re: The SSO Holiday Gift Guide
I’d recommend Piloti to the lower class riff raff such as myself but they no longer sell to the UK
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: The SSO Holiday Gift Guide
I'm tempted by "McLaren: The Road Cars 2010-2024" as I lost track of which McLaren is which, some time ago.
Cheers,
Mike.

Harris' book any good? His podcast was too rambling for me to persist with.
I may also go for Boring Car Trivia 4, Richard Porter's new book which he spruiks on the excellent Smith n Sniff podcast.

If you liked the first 3, you'll like this one.

Re: The SSO Holiday Gift Guide
This just came up on my Amazon which seems a suitable gift for a CG.

There's even an old Mustang V8, BMW Boxer and VW Campervan engine!

I increasingly realise it is not how hard you work at the work but the value of the work.
Or how you make others percieve the value of the work.
I see a lot of people working very hard on things that only seem to be valuable to themselves. We get told work hard = reward, I don't believe that is the case.

Very true, you first need to pick a profession that pays well and then become one of the best (or at least very good) at it.Explosive Newt wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 8:49 amI increasingly realise it is not how hard you work at the work but the value of the work.

I bought Chris Harris' audiobook and it's brilliant. I'm about halfway through and he comes across exactly as you hope he would. His Mum was also clearly an utter legend.
His career aside, his childhood love of cars, TV shows with cars etc seems identical to mine and I expect many on here given our similar ages. Highly recommended.
