Surprised he lasted to 65, tbh. Fairytale of New York is probably the Christmas song I hate the most.

RIP anyway.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Frankly astonished that he lasted this long, at least he missed the annual fairytale of new york discourse this year.

I mostly like the image of the Pogues more than the actual music but he wrote some great tunes.

That reads like those two statements are linked.

RIP Shane anyway.

So, we know what is likely to be Christmas no.1 this year then. I saw some pictures of him looking pretty ill a week or two ago so it's not a massive surprise, but good on him for making 65.

I know he's been very unwell for a while, but genuinely surprised he made it this far.

RIP and thanks for the tunes.
Cheers,

Mike.

I like Fairytale of New York.

I know it's been overplayed, but I still enjoy a singalong to it. Oh the shame.

RIP Shane, I always liked the song, simply for being a good tune and memories of Christmas drunken singalongs. He always seemed to be a mess, even when he was a lot younger.

Had exactly that thought today. While I was at Abbey Road studios. Recording a Christmas song

I’d like The Krackpotts to be Christmas no.1. Nobody knows who they are of course but Kunt is promoting them 😄

MacGowan became one of these drinkers from a youthful age. As he later recalled, “I was drinking stout aged five, I used to get two bottles of Guinness a night. If anyone questioned [my family] about it they would say, ‘If you give him enough when they’re young, they won’t go overboard with it later on’.”
