Is that the variant which is almost an R for a fraction of the price? I'd be peeling the stickers off the sides and replacing the alloys but it looks less of a bargain against a 981 Cayman now - this for instance: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235251454913

Or this if you want a manual: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... 9071666974

Are we not doing "Diesel Golf/F40" any more? Is that not a thing?

Yep.

Someone thought it was a good idea to order it new with those wheels rather than the Black Sport Design alloys they usually come with :roll:

This is unlikely to happen I'm afraid :lol:

I'd love a Cayman and particularly like that variant 8-)

My mate the Smart botherer had some negative things to say about the Brabus Roadster/Coupe. Apparently the painted sills etc flake and the Brabus chip prevents you from using the usual ECU upgrades which are cheap and very effective. He's expressed some regret that he sold his Roadster Coupe in favour of a Brabus ForTwo. It was when I suggested a Brabus Roadster Coupe that he told me the reasons to avoid them in favour of a stock one.

I thought the atrocious gearbox was reason enough to avoid them let alone paint flaking etc
How about not having a sig at all?

I wonder what ecu tweaks you can do other than more power? Maybe a standard one remaps to more power than a Brabus.
If you're going to go for a non Brabus, how about;

The gearbox is common to all Smarts and is nowhere near as bad as people say. Flaky paint is specific to the Brabus ones and since that's one of their defining features (along with the wheels) there's no reason to pay extra for the Brabus.

Boxster / Cayman does seem like the most sensible option.

I recommend a Ferrari 360.
