Post by dinny_g »

Yup…

Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian's Wall 'felled overnight' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-66947040

Someone’s in trouble - what possible reason would you have for doing that?? Boggles

Weird, it looks a professional job too. It's not you're average chav with a £60 saw from Screwfix.
How about not having a sig at all?

I expect they'll be on the lookout for anyone who has just purchased a powerful saw with a long bar..... :|

Mito might be able to confirm but would an expert cut a tree that big like this??

It looks like the started with a notch (if you look at the trunk on the ground) but then sliced straight through it

Conservative MP Mr Opperman said it was "unquestionably a criminal act", but added that "even if police did catch the perpetrator, the tree is still gone".
That sounds a bit "so there's no point in trying".

Yes - what a fucking stupid comment.

Catch the cunt who did it and lock him up!

Honestly I'd put the full cohort of Tory MPs in the meat grinder and start again with another lot with some brains and concept of what conservative principles are.

It's a very thick tree, going off by a couple inches wouldn't be unexpected but they even got the hinge correct to fell it onto the wall. So that was on purpose too.

OK Gotcha Mito - I had thought the Felling Cut had to be higher to release the tension but that makes sense.

Can't think of a reason someone would do that other than a disgruntled landowner wanting to remove a tourist or instagram spot?

I’ll expect a digger to knock down that section of Hadrian’s Wall tonight in that case 😬
