Went to the christening of my wife’s cousin’s first born today and while we were in the church someone tried to break into the Bentley. Centre punch to the edge of the passenger door glass:

In a a quiet car park where I’d deliberately parked well away from other cars:

So definitely not an accident. The glass is laminated so it all held together. The perp wasn’t expecting that. We’re also on our way to a week’s holiday in Devon so there’s holiday stuff on the back seat - and obviously(ish) in the boot too. If the glass was completely smashed and the car undriveable I’d be properly losing it right now.
So I’ll keep an eye on eBay for a cheap s/h piece. A new one won’t match the others (the lamination gradually discolours and a new piece won’t match). Also a new piece of glass is over £2k.
And it’s my birthday tomorrow.
Happy fcuking birthday to me.

I agree, car crime wankers should be kicked heftily in the balls by that English striker with the 110 kph hoof!

You can report online but it appears you now only get a crime ref number (which is what goes into the statistics ? And the insurance will ask for it) if they are going to do anything about it:

I guess that’s one way to keep the crime rate down, and their success rate up.

Wankers.
Although as you say, could have been far more annoying.

Absolute scum. This is the sort of crime I'd like to see punishments (and investigation) raised massively.
And before anyone else says it, Did you consider d locking the glass?

D-lock the scum around the neck to a post and allow anyone who’s ever been a victim of car crime to boot them in the nuts

Fuckers.
The downside to putting a private plate on your Bentley is the at NCG scrotes assume it’s a £100k car (full of “designer” pickings).
Those spring loaded centrepunches are a bastard for that - delighted that they were foiled by laminated glass.

Arse!
Definitely think some corporal punishment would be a cheaper/efficient deterrent.. village stocks and some irregular sized fruit n veg ftw
I like the Saudi method of an eye for an eye.
Centre punch right in the bollock and compensation for the window would be about correct and the criminal would think twice before doing it again.

D-lock them to the front wheel and then centre punch to the face.
That’s the first thing that’s made me smile today.

That’s shit sj. Had a few break ins over the years and it sucks. Borrowed my Mams car a while back, had it in my drive overnight and they broke the window to it to look in a bag on the back seat. An empty shopping bag.
Auto glass man reckoned by marks on the seals they used a screwdriver to hit the edge of the glass to break hers. Regardless of methods all are ch us of the highest degree

Received overnight. Eight hours on a Sunday is enough time to investigate & close the case.
So if you would like to break some car windows, it looks like Hants is a good place to go.

We have not even bothered to try and identify the suspect responsible more like
Cleveland police have a policy not to respond to theft from vehicles because they’ve got so little staff and so many break ins.
