Ah so it’s a 30limit with a 20 advisory. Much clearer.

Re: Wales 20mph limit
I saw my first 20mph zone on Saturday - Carlton in Bedfordshire.
It felt very very slow...

Lots of these around Sheffield, almost totally ignored although PCSOs do occasionally get to play with a speed gun.
Re: Wales 20mph limit
I had a trip to Wales last weekend for a party. I didn't think about the 20 limit until I got off the M4 and didn't spot any 20 signs for half a mile or so; but everyone was doing 20 anyway. I then trundled along an A-road though a few villages for about 10 miles. I came back up the valleys to the A465 because the Newport tunnel was closed eastbound for the weekend. Things I noticed:
- Some people religiously stuck to the 20 and occasional 30 limits but then didn't really speed up in 40 and 60 limits. Easy enough to overtake but it's bizarre being the fastest car on the road at less than 60 and below the speed limit.
- A lot of the 20 limits have new 40 and 30 limit sections either side so you don't go 60-20. Very sensible; I've always thought the French did this well on rural N-routes when they pass through villages.
- An awful lot of the 20 signs were defaced already in some places. My car read one that had the 2 sprayed over as 80 and started accelerating me
- Early Sunday morning going up the A469 to Rhymney there was mass disobedience; virtually nobody going at 20. It was along this road that the 20 limits seemed most intrusive as well; maybe not a coincidence.
Oh, and the A40 between Abergavenny and Raglan had temporary 50 limit signs all along it, but no roadworks or any other reason for them to be there. Again, mass disobedience.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-67064306 - article on the BBC website. Seems pretty consistent with my experience, though if cyclists are going faster than 20mph, let them past!
Re: Wales 20mph limit
I've had a few visits into Wales since it came in, and the problem I have is that it's a blanket limit rather than identifying essential areas. No one would really complain if schools/shops had 20 sections, but when it starts half a mile outside town at both sides, it's pretty fvcking tedious, and not really adding to anyone's safety.

I was at Anglesea just after the limits were changed. Didn't notice any 20mph limits. Although i only went from the hotel to the circuit.
Re: Wales 20mph limit
They definitely aren't on every road. If they were, I would have set a new record of going 6x the speed limit

Some areas have sought a lot more exemptions than others.
Re: Wales 20mph limit
I went to Wales the other week. It seems like there are two kinds of drivers, those willing to obey the new limit and those getting angry at people obeying the new limit.
I only spent maybe 10mins total in the 20mph zones, and being as it's a foreign country and all that, I decided to obey the limit. In most cases I had cars right up my arse, and in one case I was overtaken.

Re: Wales 20mph limit
I picked my megane up from the middle of Snowdonia, I drove at 20 in the 20 zones and like a lunatic everywhere else. Had a nice time, no complaints.

That’s basically how it’s been in London ever since. Although here it’s either the old 30mph gang or you have the super fearful of getting a ban and driving at 15 mph gang
And as expected there’s some highly entertaining road rage resulting from it.

How about not having a sig at all?
