Our washing machine

Yup, our run of fantastic luck continues with the demise of our lovely washing machine. Think it was bought in early 2003 and lasted right through the kids being babies so cannot really grumble, beyond the fact that in the last month we have had so much expense of course.

Going with another Miele as the last one did us proud

It's worth paying extra for a larger 9 - 10 kg load capacity IMHO.

Is it not repairable?

Just had a complete door seal failure on mine, it ripped right through. Got a new one, fitted and fixed

re larger capacity, the TD is an 8, the new wm is a 7 or 8, the old one was a 5kg so an extra 40% odd will be fine.

It needed new suspension, new seal, new bushes and a new module, plus fitting for al that stuff so was getting on for £500 for a machine that cost us less than that 20 years ago. I might have just got the bits replaced but it seemed to be a reasonable tipping point to buy another.

Just tried fixing my Samsung, it was a pain in the arse. Got a new Bosch from John Lewis yesterday.

We Bosched when we specced the kitchen on the new house. Whisper quiet, god bless that efficiency.

True! I didn't realise mine was on, it's infinitely quieter than the Sammy.

Our Zanussi is like that. You hear it on the spin cycle, but it’s otherwise practically silent. Often mistaken for off when it is on.

And you can leave it on in the evening / first thing in the morning without fear of disturbing the household.

At least you wont need to take the old one to the tip - Just stick an Audi badge on it and leave it on your driveway

An ex of my sister in law ran a white good repair company. He said buy a basic Miele with no digital screen, don’t use loads of softener and it will last longer than you will.

Dave!
