Public want tall SUVs. As a former Volvo estate owner, I'm slightly sad at this news - although I did dwap my Volvo estate for a Volvo SUV, so maybe I'm partly to blame! In my defence, the new V60 hadn't come out and if it was available, I'd definitely have got one.

Was well impressed with the Volvo I have to say - it was a diesel model with 45,000km on the clocks and yet it was like new. I've never driven one before and it genuinely surprised me just how good it was and how much I liked driving it. Had a solidity and heft to the controls and ride that reminded me of the E91 actually. And far superior to any F series BMW I've driven or any offerings from the VW group stable. I think if I was in the market for a family car (i.e. if the wife didn't want to keep her Superb) one of these would definitely be considered.

I still maintain that Volvo interiors are far better than the equivalent BMW, Audi etc.

I'm really sad about this despite not missing my V90 Cross Country. The fact that they had only 4-cylinder engines in the current generation - and not a particularly distinguished 4-cyl at that - is their only real downfall. Really nice to look at and sit in, easy to live with as you'd expect, and massively more appealing than the XC60 and XC90.

I'm oddly sad about this, despite Volvo having never really been on my radar. The recent hire experience above really opened my eyes to how good they are, so it seems a real shame to cut them loose. I'm particularly surprised at them not sticking with the mid-size estate though, as I see plenty of V60s about. The rest maybe not so much.

the last Volvo I drove was a 2016 ish S60 and the interior was dogshit. Might as well have been a Vauxhall Corsa - especially around the centre screen. That was launched in 2010. The generation which followed were far nicer.
The F30 3-series has a pretty nasty interior, IMO.

Are BMWs that bad now? I wasn't impressed with the Polestar 3 I sat in, lower plastics all hard rubbish material that is pretty ubiquitous now. Centre console lots of shiny plastic which starches easily. The upper plastics/fabric dash material were clearly trying to be eco friendly and thus were obviously recycled plastic but it feels out of place in a premium car. Like going to a fancy restaurant and being given a brown recycled napkin.

I looked for a V90 or V60 this time round with a decent engine and decent miles but most seemed to be D3s around the £20k mark and very few petrol ones at all. A real shame, have had a fair few hatches, saloons and estates over the years and really loved them.

I had an old V40 for 6 years and 150k miles and loved it. By some margin, the most comfortable car I have ever owned.
My sister had a new SC60 hybrid and it is a nice but wouldn’t be my first choice

You only have to look around to see that everyone wants an SUV of some description or at the very least, a car which has a higher-than-traditional driving position which is why the vast majority of cars on the road now seem to be an actual SUV or a jacked-up SUV wannabe.
