Dinny (Urban Dictionary) - Someone who has become mentally deranged. He went dinny. You can visit him in the mental hospital. (Probably derived from Romany "dinlo")

Being from Portsmouth, I heard dinlo / din (dinny not as much, but I did hear it) quite a bit growing up. Don't hear it as much these days, but it always meant a bit of an idiot to me. We do have some odd slang in Portsmouth!

Does remind me being in the office and someone saying can you shut the door, there's a din outside. Hadn't realised din meant a noise, so I got some odd looks when I laughed at that. Fun to explain.
