SOLD: 2005 Mk3 MX5
SOLD: 2005 Mk3 MX5
***SOLD***
Probably a long shot, but anyone fancy a cheap Mk3 MX5 (55 plate) before I give it to WBAC (was my late mum's)?
MOT to mid-Oct, about 74k, red. A few rust patches, but I reckon it's mechanically sound and no reason to think it wouldn't pass an MOT next time. £1700.

Re: For Sells: 2005 Mk3 MX5
Sounds possibly interesting - what engine?
Re: For Sells: 2005 Mk3 MX5
That is very keenly priced.
Re: For Sells: 2005 Mk3 MX5
Let me know if you want any info, there is a pack of receipts and stuff, but I must admit I haven't been through it properly at this point (probably wouldn't bother for WBAC), but if someone is genuinely interested I'll go over and pick up the file / take photos.

Re: For Sells: 2005 Mk3 MX5
I'd have that in an instant for the summer if I could get reasonably priced insurance! Hmmmmmm, it's still tempting...

I think I can afford that. Never driven one though, not sure if it would be my cup of tea as funny as that sounds.
How quickly do you want to know?

@mik said he’d buy it.
Re: For Sells: 2005 Mk3 MX5
I'm not dealing with the general public, so if nobody on here wants it I'll probably stick it up on a local FB car group I'm on, and then if that fails I'll take it to WBAC.Explosive Newt wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2023 10:35 pm I think I can afford that. You've got as long as it takes somebody else to buy it.
Seeing as there's a couple of maybes on here I'll head over and take some photos / have a look at what's in the receipt file over the weekend.

I'll take it of your hands when you've spent a chunk of cash on it, got bored and realised that you're not using it.

Update. Got it valeted today, admittedly I went for a comprehensive one, but bloody hell, when did that get so expensive!
Done a few miles in it, I'm pretty impressed. Never properly driven an MX5, and even though it's not on good tyres or necessarily been maintained like a proper car nerd would have, it's still really nice to drive. Everything has a good mechanical feel, and you feel connected to driving it.
If I wanted something a bit more refined, sedate, and better screwed together than a Lotus, this would actually be a great choice.
The interior scrubbed up brilliantly.
Only bad point is that in heavy rain there's a drip from the window seals each side (been kept under a cover, so has been fine). Roof on the whole looks spot on, so I imagine it's just a case of refreshing or renewing the window seals. Roof has a great mechanism.
Sticking it in the neighbours garage until it's sold now anyway, so shouldn't be an issue in the interim with any weather.

Re: For Sells: 2005 Mk3 MX5
Jimmy adequately sets out my reasons for vacillating - it looks a no-brainer to have it off you but I know it would sit around doing nothing. Gah, still fancy it. Hmmm.
Re: For Sells: 2005 Mk3 MX5
Oh, and one of the wheels has a bit of a dint in the rim. I'm assuming a pothole. If it's not mendable those alloys look cheap as chips to replace anyway.
Re: For Sells: 2005 Mk3 MX5
Got to be cheap top down fun for a couple of years. I'd probably keep it myself if I had any space.
