It was. It's on twitter too, but I am reluctant to post twitter links now as I understand they don't work for all.

The Hyundai crash was a bit heavy too - I imagine the ability to gain pace is not match by any improvement in braking and it'll be heavy, so... Always had trouble driving the fast electric cars in GTA for exactly this reason.

Oh, and now that it's pissing with rain and having seen complaints about the 2hr queues to travel the last 10 miles, and the delays and issues with ticket collection (yesterday they ran out of blanks for people who wanted to collect them at the FoS and wouldn't let them in with just the e-mail confirmation...), I am just glad I'm not there this year. I went pretty much every year from 1999 for a decade or so, mostly with free tickets, despite which there was not too much in the way of crowds. A victim of its own success.

Yeah I saw that - he just seemed to plough straight ahead into the bales

I'm pretty sure that was driver error rather than Hyundai forgetting it needed brakes
Also, comparing GTA to real life

Thought that would amuse!
Driver error, fair enough - there are regular crashes at Molecomb.

I think I’ve been every year on a Thursday and Friday for the last 10 years. Once I went on a Saturday and it was too busy for me, even very early in the morning.
I didn’t find traffic bad this year but I leave London at 6:30am, meet up with my dad somewhere and we’re usually in the venue by 9am. Although this morning the idiots started roadworks about 3 miles from the carpark and put up temporary traffic light! I wouldn’t be surprised if it took people 2+ hours just to get through that later.
Had a look around everything and got out the venue around lunch time, stopped off at Haslemere for lunch and back in London before the rush hour - got it perfected to an art now.
We ended up sitting in almost every electric car with a large battery as my dad is looking for something new. We’re both quite tall with long legs and most EVs are uncomfortable after a while as you sit with your knees quite a bit above your waist and this means your thighs are unsupported which adds strain to your lower back.
The only cars which didn’t suffer from this were the Taycan, i7 and Eletre. The Eletre looks the nuts inside and has a 112kwh battery. In second place with thighs slightly unsupported but still decent were the Polestar 3 and new Model S. The Polestar also has an impressive 111kwh battery.
Special shout-out for the XM Label Red for being the first car neither of us could really fit in. The seat bolsters are so aggressive and narrow you can’t sit properly in them - they make a Caterham feel like a spacious car. I doubt that POS can generate sufficient G force to necessitate such bolsters… The i5 also disappointing in terms of seating position. The few BMW staff we spoke to really didn’t seem to know much about their cars either in contrast to all the other marques who were excellent.
As for the overall event itself? Gets a bit more shit every year but what doesn’t Much fewer big manufacturers since Covid, more overpriced niche stuff. A lot more crowd management (queuing) because it’s busier every year. Less accessible in terms of open cars. Today was a bit crap, as soon as it rained most cars were locked up or had a temporary barrier put around them. That didn’t happen in previous years.
The hill climb today was shite too, too many red flags I guess and most drivers taking it very easy, I just watched the F1 stuff and Le Mans and continued walking round. I prefer watching the hillclimb on tv anyway so Thursdays are the better day for me.

Blimey, there are plenty of places to get a decent view; it's not like the cars all flash past in a blur so you barely see them. And the drama of some of them coming past is way better than it can ever be on TV. That's the joy of Goodwood; seeing cars in the flesh which are unique in many cases.

@Mito Man - I’ve currently got an EQE saloon. Pretty big cabin, nice quality and very quiet/calm with not much road noise. Weird screen wash filler aside, its looks are growing on me too! Good range and 2.2% APR deals on offer direct from Merc.. it’s a nice, if a bit boring, saloon and it surprises me how much I’m liking it

I watch what I want to see though, most of the older cars have been going up that hill since as long as I remember so I don’t feel like I’m missing much and yes it’s nice seeing cars actually moving at a hillclimb but it’s no match for watching them on an actual track.

That just reminds me, Mercedes and Audi were missing at Goodwood this year. My dad really isn’t much of a Mercedes fan, says he won’t buy one until he’s at least 70

If you mean compared to a circuit like, say, Goodwood, it's a totally different thing; you're able to watch the car in detail rather than watching the racing between cars. And I bet you get a better view of the car at Goodwood hill than the circuit; at a circuit you're limited to the bit you can see.

There’s only one corner which you can see the cars head on and going at some lick and moving about - Molecomb. But you’re not particularly close to the cars and in recent years there’s so many camera stands that you don’t even get a clear view from the grandstand. Otherwise you’re just watching cars going in a near straight line half obscured by a hay bale.

Why would you want to see them head on? Plenty of places up the hill you can see them up one straight, round a corner and up the next unless Lord March has got really slack with the groundskeeping in the last decade.

Lol. Tbf, mine’s a free upgrade for a week long rental. I don’t think I’d buy one with my own money, especially since I now don’t want an elec car!. But it feels much better put together than other elec cars I’ve had (Polestar, Kia, Tesla, BMW), although BMW were pretty close.

Head on you see the car squirm under braking, twitch, direction change, drive past.
You don’t have much clear line of sight now, too many grandstands/restaurants/scaffolding gantries for cameramen/massive TV screens. There’s a few select spots but they’re all pretty packed by 9am with amateur photographers/YouTubers etc with massive cameras and tripods.
