Thought it might be worth a separate thread rather than spamming up the Fleet Reports thread.

More than double the power.
Apologies - I couldn’t remember what original spec Duncs had.
118bhp I think!

Had you driven a Honda Elise Duncs? Or was driving yours out of Dan's the first time? Must've seemed pokey if so :D
First time driving one, an expensive gamble I guess!

It's quite hard to contrast the performance relative to the R400K as I haven't had it for a few years and that was previously the most accelerative car I'd driven. Needless to say the difference between this and the original, or indeed my shitbox daily that I've been driving since Dan took the Elise, is stark. Although I must say I thought it would take longer than it has to settle back into it.* I did get caught in a heavy shower when out in it on Sunday which focused my mind (probably unnecessarily in truth).

* - Not that I've been extracting ten tenths out of it, but making progress.

Yep, supercharged I think it was around 220bhp.

In terms of delivery it just feels like the Honda has more to give everywhere. I didn't mind the zing and shriek of the Toyota, but this engine is a bit more muscular and angry. It feels like you can really use the rev range for whatever you want to do, and the noise matches that with a nice low down growl up to the top end roar. It feels more coarse than the Toyota, but that's possibly down to the engine mounts rather than the engine itself.

In terms of how it handles now, it does feel lighter and more immediate (it's got a quick rack too), very much feels more like it's on board with whatever you want to do. Not that there was a lot of slack in the Exige, but I find this more confidence inspiring in some way, maybe the torque helps with that too and feeling like I don't have to thrash it to enjoy it.

8-) Well that looks satisfyingly strong everywhere (with a nice little climb above 6K)

How does that compare with a standard map? The K20 I had was pretty late and didn't have a huge vtec step - that doesn't seem to have any step at all - almost a perfect straight line!

How much does it weigh? That was the big issue with my EP3, just too much fat to haul around.

That's with 20L of fuel in it on collection day. :)

When I put the obligatory Tilletts in it and a couple of other bits, should come down a smidge.

Awesome, I reckon I'm hauling around at least that much in sporting equipment/shoes/half finished drinks bottles/kids toys/etc in my boot!!

@dan will be able to give more detail on the map, TBH my arse dyno (copyright mik) makes me feel like there is a (albeit not pronounced like a standard engine) kick from somewhere upwards of 6.5k, but I guess that's not what the graph says so I may just be imagining it or it may just be that my head is tuned to the idea of it running out of puff when the power is still building. I dunno. I'll keep studying it.

First post-conversion upgrade is probably the most wanky of them all: a K20 plate. I'm telling myself that it's one less digit so looks better on the front, but probably I'm just being a show-off and think it will be fun to get a few nods from people in the know.

I saw a heavily modded (looking) EK9 civic type R with K24EKG on Saturday - I presumed it had a K24 swap.

People do notice stuff like that!

I know it isn't really relevant but what's it like below 3k?
Is there a weight difference between the two engines & boxes?
What happens to the poor old Rover K ?
