I haven’t flown a drone since all those flying rules and CAA stuff was implemented. Now I have a 249g one which is light enough to not need any registration and faffing about.

My phone is really struggling to load your pic - even if I open the image in a separate tab.

You don’t need a flyer ID for a 249g drone, but they are no longer classed as toys if they have a camera, so you DO need to have an Operator ID and display this on your drone. (My sticker probably weighs a gramme!)

Yes still need an operator ID. But being realistic, in the middle of an empty woodland….
And yes, I think the picture size is just too big, takes an age for them to load for me too.

Previous drone was almost 3kg, it fell under the sub 25kg category which made it almost impossible to fly anywhere even when registered so I sold it pronto before it turned into a worthless brick!

Just had time to look at this. Larch has a nice pattern, I know they wanted to just show off the structural properties but if it's hidden in the structure of the house never to be seen again then it seems like a bit of a loss to me. It's pretty difficult to get a hold of now since most of our larch used to be imported from Siberia.

Just idly browsing saws, I see a lot of large saw blades for sale such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-Professi ... 5K61G?th=1 400mm and 500mm.
Largest mitre saw I've seen for sale is the usual selection of brands with a 305mm blade, what I'm already using, and it feels undersized for large wooden structures. There's an Evolution Metal Saw with 355mm blade which comes with a wood blade too.
But who makes the 400mm+ saw? Or is it a table saw thing only?

If you look at the packaging of that blade you posted it shows it as a table saw blade. The only mitre saws I’ve ever seen that big are for cutting aluminium and pvc profile

Yeah, bummer. Ended up ordering a Makita 270mm circular saw from Screwfix to do the notches by hand as the 305mm mitre saw kept hitting the back of the blade chassis.

Go steady, they’re finger takers if you use those with a lapse in concentration, as the blade will drag your hand in if you go too near it while it’s spinning

Already hate it, I’m left handed so I end up on the wrong side of the saw with sawdust being ejected into me, not a problem with a smaller saw but this one is strong enough to launch sawdust into my eyes. Also the safety button is awkward for a leftie so I’m having to use it like a rightie.
Still, gets the job done.

Weather is shit, days are short and there’s 70mph winds forecast midweek so hoping it doesn’t all blow over/get flattened by a tree.
Probably another 4 days of work to get the rest of the frame up.
