I'm afraid the title follows forum convention, as I have some very sad news to inform the forum of.
Our good friend Yk (aka Coaster) passed away in the early hours of this morning (Monday May 1st) after a short battle with Cancer. He was incredibly brave and resolute throughout his diagnosis and short illness, the GT3 was sold back to its previous owner which gave YK some peace I think. The owner has purchase a cherished plate with YKs initials on it, to commemorate a good man.
Those of you that were close to him likely already know, I just felt we should let the rest of you know too.
He was 44, and lived a good life, and was always generous to his friends (I was fully insured on his GT3 for eg?!), and will be sorely missed.
RIP my friend

That's terrible..
as a car guy, I also see a little bit of happiness in knowing that a fellow car guy got to run a GT3 in his time though...

Horrible news.
I'll echo Rich; glad he got to run a GT3, and know it went to a good home.
R.i.p.

Before the GT3, he had a Carrera almost identical to mine - but much better condition ! He persuaded me to do my first ever track day, at Bedford, back in 2018.

Awful news. Really rather cut up about that.
YK loved a good run up in the Highlands and was always keen to meet up. Thoroughly nice bloke and an absolute CG - it was a stretch to buy his GT3, and he then used it as it was designed to be used. No investment pampering for YK.
I have more than one memory of him holding / poring over a large map instead of a phone screen - searching for local knowledge to finalise his route. I did well to hide the fact that I was rather chuffed when he
insisted on a quick p-ride in the VXR8 at Glenshee - giggling at the awesome noise it made the first time I pulled from single-digit mph to the redline in 2nd - and expressing surprise at how much grip/traction it found.
My fave kinetic memory was chasing him along the best section of The Secret Road - first time I had seen his GT3 - me in the Evora. He was a handy wheelman, and it was great to watch the arse of the GT3 squatting into compressions, and generally moving in a way that only 911’s do. I had the undoubted benefit of following, but we were glued together by a long invisible bungie-rope for several twisty & undulating miles. When we got out at the next stop, we grinned at each other, and then burst into a fit of the giggles like naughty schoolboys.
These were (very hastily) taken elsewhere on that day. As usual - any time that could have been spent setting up the cars for a decent shot were instead spent gabbing or driving.
RIP friend.

Oh gosh, I had no idea he was ill. lovely chap, I chatted to him quite a lot when he had his light blue/violet Corrado.
Such a shame. He’s a good example to us to enjoy life while it lasts. RIP Kin.

Fucking hell, that is awful

. I'd only recently seen that he was ill, and had been thinking about him every time a freightliner went past the bottom of our garden.
Only met him the once at TLBS in Manchester but spoke to him a few times via WhatsApp and pm. Such a genuinely nice guy and a huge car nut.
RIP YK

Thank you Barry for your courage to post this terribly sad news. I was fortunate to meet up with YK on several occasions - track days, meets, and when a few of us converged on Surrey Rolling Road for some dyno action. He was always so kind, generous and enthusiastic. I thank him for the drive of his Corrado at Bedford, though I didn't really fit in it, and rides in his 911s.
Go well, friend.
