Had to Google the guy. Not something that affects my life, but thought I'd post just to help see if we can get this potential behemoth of a thread some traction.

He's overrated, IMO. There are plenty more talented guitarists that get less coverage than him and he can't hold a candle to his predecessors in Ozzy's band (Randy Rhoads, Brad Gillis and Jake E Lee).

He uses them a lot on Ozzy and if you took them out of his Black Label Society stuff there'd be nothing left.

I'm not going to lie, I like pinch harmonics. Mick from Slipknot is a fan of using them.

Never really liked Zakk Wylde though, He just seems like a bit of a dick.

Used in some of the greatest metal tracks, not least by the GOAT, Dimebag.



However, used in the way Zakk Wylde does it's a bit of a lazy gimmick to make his work sound more interesting imo.

That's more accurate - it's not the noise per se, it's the amount of them which Zakk sticks into every song.
