IRL meetings and events

Firstly, it’s great to meet people, talk, laugh, debate etc, and it’s great for networking and building work relationships.
Today I went to an afternoon event where I met a lot of cool people. I’m looking at the 7 hours of time I spent doing that, and literally crying about how much work I could have output in that time. Honestly could have done soooo much

I love working with people in an office and having real meetings with them every day.
I have no interest in crappy networking events.

Networking is great, as opposed to networking events - which are awful.
People are great, as long as I don't have to spend too much time with them

We had our first Company Off Site this week since before Covid - just 3 hours in the morning - it was great to see everyone together again - to catch up with people from other departments who you hadn't seen. Bacon, Sausage Sandwiches and good coffee.
I really enjoyed it to be honest - the office was pretty full when we got back though

I usually can't be bothered with irl meetings but had quite a good day in the office on Wed.
Went in for a meeting in the morning and it turned out some folk I hadn't seen for a few months were in meeting someone I'd introduced them to, so we all went out for lunch.
Only slightly spoiled by the afternoon meeting I had not showing up.
I'm an employee though, so don't mind a bit of a skive

I went into the office yesterday. I still feel it's overrated. I had to keep my headphones on most of the day to block out the noise of people around me chatting constantly.

I like the mix to be honest - we have no set days or times in the office so I can be flexible. I've been in 3 days this week but 2 of those were 1/2 days. I live locally so that's not an issue.

I live 10 minutes from my office and only ever go in when I have to. Preferably I'd never go in

I use days in the office for catching up with colleagues and being social. I'm always knackered at the end of the day and never get much work done, but they are really enjoyable. Having said that, I've not been in the office for a couple of months.

I had to go to Denver for a conference.
Denver is an industrial featureless shithole with a homelessness problem.
Constant air conditioning / altitude of the town has buggered my sinuses.
I have lost 2 days to recovery from jet lag in different directions.
It all costs so bloody much money.
