I feel that we are less social, more judgemental and moody than 10 years ago.
I want to be a policeman so I can tell idiots how they are doing it wrong.
A lot of youths are wannabe gangsters with a fluffy lady beard.
I’m an old fart who doesn’t understand the absolute need for instant gratification.
As soon as I decide that a pair of Chinos looks cool I shall ask my kids to shoot me for my own good.

Playing with Lego and model trains keeps me young, it’s like the elixir of youth.

Very interesting Dave - but all your initial complaints are a symptom of you getting older, rather than things being "worse" than they were.
I think we have a similar thread pretty much weekly on this subject. It's us - we're old and cranky and we're good at shit now, whereas kids aren't, like we weren't.
We thought we were at the time, because we were kids, but I can guarantee our parents' age group and generation found us just as annoying we find kids now.
So basically - suck it up, buttercup.

Do you go to clubs of like-minded people to play with Lego and trains?

No, I once went to a Warhammer shop when I was young with some Space Crusader models I’d painted. Even though I went there on rollerblades and was wearing knee pads I was the coolest person in the store. I learned quickly that they should be avoided.

JLIC a couple of my mates have started this patter, so I take pleasure in reminding them how shite we were as youths .
Kids annoy adults, adults annoy kids. It’s the natural balance of like.

Totally this. Kids of today are fannies. I worry for them.
To get vaguely serious for a sec though, the theme of a global-wide general depression amongst the general populous is a thing at the moment. See SikTh's The Future in Whose Eyes? and A Perfect Circle's Eat The Elephant.

So you're not actually being sociable yourself, despite moaning that others aren't social these days?

Truly the epitome of modern life: everyone else is doing it wrong.

Again - twas ever thus.
The real epitome of modern life is thinking it's all new and that we invented it. Nonsense.
