Guess the new car (and choose my alloys)
Guess the new car (and choose my alloys)
Paid deposit today. Two clues: it’s an SUV and it’s not electric. Fits with my thread a little while ago about buying a last of the line ICE car.
While I partly blame @DaveE for being an enabler, it’s something I’ve been thinking about for some months.

Quite an upgrade from a Yeti!
Spec, colour, options?

Nice. Thay are pretty compact too.
Re: Guess the new car
Spec has to be locked in by 20 March so despite all my previous exploration of the configurator, I’m doubtless going to do a bit more fiddling. Black metallic, black extended leather with crayon stitching and seatbelts. Privacy glass, panoramic roof, grey 20” wheels (standard on the T, as is PASM), 14-way comfort seats, larger fuel tank. Some other bits but very little upwelling from the dealer - they said everyone wants privacy glass and pan roof on the used market but since my used search alert was for those options, I couldn’t help but agree
The S is not much more than a T and if I were speccing it for myself I’d have the V6. But it’s much less economical, comes with less appealing standard options (exterior trim colours, alloys etc) and my wife is still getting a 2.5x uplift in power so she’ll cope.

Nice one Jobbo, they're lovely cars. Not long to wait either which is good!
Panoramic roofs are always the best and being able to spec a larger fuel tank is a neat option but one I've not seen offered much.

Nice work Simon
What's the build time looking like at the moment?

Re: Guess the new car
Larger fuel tank is such a great option, I’ve not seen that in years so I thought it wasn’t a thing anymore, very cool.

They are very handsome cars - the only "small" SUV I'd be even remotely interested in. Approved.

Re: Guess the new car
Just been on the configurator. I thought the base price was reasonable, but then ran through the options list those are some pricey choices.
Re: Guess the new car
Extended tank options seem to make tanks the size they used to be when fuel was so much cheaper. I am sure my old Cav TD had an 85 litre tank as standard. My Merc has I think 75 or 85 as someone ticked the long range tank. The TT is awful, about 45 litres and for mostly short journeys that doesn't last too long.
I like the Macan but I have seen some (base models I guess) that look a bit Meh.
Sounds like yours will be lovely as I think it is totty wee wheels that kill it.
So that is two new Porsches in as many months, anyone else?

Re: Guess the new car
I’m cynical about the extended tank thing. It feels like they needed to design a smaller one for the hybrid to accommodate some gubbins and then realised they could now charge extra for what would otherwise be the normal size tank.
Re: Guess the new car
If we’d ordered a T or S and not got an existing slot, delivery was quoted as being Sept/Oct. Plenty of people on Porsche forums saying they’ve waited longer - one chap ordered last Feb and didn’t have his S in January this year.
Since we got a built slot of May, we should be lucky.
Have woken up today still wondering about stupid things on the configurator like painted mid-section on the rear bumper
Oh, the fuel tank size goes from about 63l to 74l - so not massively more, but I hate filling up so it’s a no-brainer. Audi offer a similar size upgrade on the A6 and A7. I’m sure in both cases the slightly smaller tank reduces the weight just enough to eke out a WLTP benefit.
