Interest rates on savings
Interest rates on savings
Why are they so shit? Also, why isn't there an outcry that banks are ripping the piss?
Re: Interest rates on savings
Because everyone’s ploughed their savings into crypto
Re: Interest rates on savings
I’ve got 5% with Barclays and 1.5% with NatWest.
Barclays was by paying £5 a month for a different account, I then get £6 back due to direct debits coming from it and then you get 5% up to 5k.
We’ve a lot dotted around so really should put more effort in.
Dave!

Re: Interest rates on savings
My point really is you shouldnt have to. How much is a new mortgage offer now - 5.5? Banks are fucking robbing us especially if you have a cash isa.V8Granite wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 12:30 pm I’ve got 5% with Barclays and 1.5% with NatWest.

Couldn’t agree more. When I had a mortgage the speed at which the letter arrived telling me of an interest rate rise was impressive
I’ve got premium bonds which are returning about 3% over the year helped by a £500 win one month. They aren’t as good as they used to be though as the prize structure was changed.
Basically spend all your savings as they aren’t keeping up with inflation.

Re: Interest rates on savings
Absolutely. 50k in a bank account at 4 percent is 2k minus tax at the mo. 50k of their bb loan in there gave 350 quid.John wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 1:57 pm Couldn’t agree more. When I had a mortgage the speed at which the letter arrived telling me of an interest rate rise was impressive

I'd just buy some ETH tho
Re: Interest rates on savings
Most of my dollar is in H&L savings, split across 5-6 funds. Currently returning 16% approx. but does fluctuate.

I hadn’t heard of it either, but found this earlier.

Funds are good, most of our pensions are in them. Fees still to pay down or up.mik wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 8:33 pmI hadn’t heard of it either, but found this earlier.

If you'd bought a FTSE tracker at the start of the year you'd be up. ETH as well

I read a little but most are in their wealth fund recommendations. Legal& general international trust is doing me well.
I've also set the kids up accounts and they're also doing much better than the bank.
