Can you get….

These with thumb turns on both sides?

Our rescue dog has always been able to open doors - sneaky buggar - want to be able to latch a door over but still allow humans to access easily from either side of the door.

The one above looks relatively easy to fit - I did find one here, but I don’t have the tools to accurately cut a channel in the door to allow this to be fitted.

I reckon it would be easy to dismantle and reconstruct two euro-barrel locks with thumb turn one side into a dual thumb turn. But they are probably only used on exterior doors, so not much use.

The obvious way to do it is to change the standard door handle for a circular one…

You can but Euro cylinders with thumb turns on each end - but yeah - not ideal for an interior door

A drill with a 16mm speed bit and a sharp wood chisel is all you’d need to fit the one you’ve linked to

Really? I had images of routers clamped onto doors that had been removed from their hinges….

If you want a perfectly square hole then yes. If not just drill 3 overlapping holes and use a chisel to square the sides off. Just make sure not to drill where the fixings are

You could fit standard bathroom door locks and then add your thumb turn of choice on both sides of the door

I literally just typed that and got the “someone else has posted” message as I pressed send. Spooky!

So far, Jobbo is the most sensible - just change the handle to a knob.

U fortunately that will look a bit incongruous.

Aside from the obvious peni5 joke, changing the door handle from a lever to a turned knob didn't make any difference in our house - our black lab just wraps his mouth round the doorknob and turns his head. Hey presto! door open. All the door levers can be opened by a delicately placed paw to slightly open the door. He then nudges the door against the frame - just enough to bounce it off the frame without closing it shut. When he can get either a paw or his nose between the door and frame he opens the door!
Literally now have either sliding bolts on every door or have to move furniture in front of the doors to stop him exploring

The kitchen bin was originally a swing bin but he just used to dive in to grab food. Then we got a pedal bin but he learnt to press the pedal and cordinate his attack to instantly dive in the bin after pressing the pedal. Solution? Move all food / bins into locked cupboards :D

Flip it over so you have to lift the handle.

Dave!
