Pete Waterman was an early manager of the specials and was heavily involved in that scene in Coventry.

Really sad to see this. I didn't realise he was only 63 too; I would have been 8 when Ghost Town came out and it felt a very adult song. I fucking loved that, and his Fun Boy Three stuff.
He was so influential that even when he wasn't really in the public eye so much in the early 90s, the NME mentioned him all the time. I put on his collaboration with Salad from the 1994 Help album this morning as a completely different tribute.
