Assume Patreons still pay a sub even if no content? (@Rich B - are you still a Patreon?
Yeah I wondered this.

i cancelled it a long time ago. It's a shame they couldn't make the whole YouTube thing work - if they'd gone about it seriously I think they could have made an awful lot of money doing what they enjoy doing.

I never opted into the patreon thing - decided to purchase merch instead (zipper, long sleeved top, t-shirts).

Have they formally given up on it? It's the notable lack of any update that seems particularly odd. Especially if they're still happily taking money from people.

There has been a couple of patreon updates. Essentially they are fannying about with the dash dials in an attempt to make new printed circuits so all the lights are the same colour. that was the last update. it was due to get rolling road mapped start of this year in ireland at some specialist.

2022 hasn't panned out as we'd originally planned. We had booked the rolling road session for February, the car was meant to have been finished by spring and we'd be on our next project by now.

There have been mitigating circumstances but there are no excuses; we've not delivered. We're embarrassed by the lack of output. It wasn't for the lack of trying and had we known then what we know now, we'd have done things differently.

You patrons are literally our life blood and in your position I'd be pretty bloody annoyed at the lack of progress too.

On the plus side, the 3D printing PCB odyssey is almost at an end and as you can see from the picture, it's looking quite good. It works too, which is a plus. The switch pack has been tested and it verks. We're getting some expert assistance with the Arduino programming - it's a steep learning curve - and that's coming on quickly. The main 3 dial dash cluster is printing as I type this and with a bit of luck, the effect will be very cool.

We've collected more bits for the neglected Escargot, and we've got hold of some very important parts for the MG, but the mini is the absolute priority though and we're not resting until its done. Well maybe a little bit over Christmas, but not a lot.

So again we apologise, and for those who have stuck with us through this belcalmed period, thank you. We promise to better in 2023 - we have some exciting things coming.

We hope you have a lovely Christmas - don't get too sober.

Cheers,

Nik, Richard and Ben.

The daft thing is, any one of those paragraphs could have been made into a video.

I'm going to charitably assume that PCBWay couldn't make their boards for some reason....

Cancelled patreon - payment due next week and no hint of any content coming.

Moved on to the late break show. he does content every week so i expect it will be better value.

You're not the only one, by the looks. They've lost 1000 patrons in the last year.

That graph is patrons, not earnings - I'm unsure if tier/earnings info that's publicly available is trustable.

That's still potentially quite a wedge of cash to be getting from people every month, for sweet FA content. I wonder how many people just forget they're signed up

I cancelled mine when it became apparent what a vaccine denying right wing nutter one of them (Richard I think?) was.

Still enjoy the content when they put it out, just won't be giving them any money.

4800 patrons? Be interesting to know what that equated to in revenue. They're not turning out any content because they're balls deep in coke and hookers!

Is it fixed then? I know with some of the channels I subscribe to you can choose different levels of contribution which give different levels of access to the creators etc.

me, on that very post wrote:That graph is patrons, not earnings
They stopped exposing their income a while back, if you go to that site and set it to 'all time' you can see both axes. The graph isn't that clear for it, hence why I made that point ;) I imagine if they were getting £15k a month for producing no content it'd be a bigger news

All time graph:

Earnings in green, patrons in orange.

Whereas if you look at, say, Civvie11 on that site, he's left his income up on there, so it's accurate, I believe - it's just API scraping. If they expose the income, it gets graphed, if they don't, it doesn't.

Civvie11 (does old shool shooters and terrible games on Youtube, consistent output)

So very roughly speaking, they were making £6.5k in 2019 when they had around 50% of their peak number of patrons. So about £13k per month at the peak.

Add that to the other private client work, merch sales, and presume this doesn't include YT revenue either?

Seems to me they could have been funding a very respectable coke and hookers habit at their peak. 8-)
