Emira V6 vs Cayman GTS

Post by Matty »

Evora sold poorly against it's Porsche counterpart - interested to see if anyone had £70k spare to buy a new car how many would choose the Emira over the GTS if it was their own money on the line.

I grew up loving Lotuses, have owned 4 in the past and love the look of the Emira. However, It's about 120 mm wider than my GTS which makes it unable to park it in my single width garage, (the Porsche just fits), and more of a liability in many driving situations. I'll be sticking with what I've got for the time being, though I really wanted to want the Lotus. I must have grown up at last!

As I haven’t driven an Emira (yet) or a 718, I’d say the the Porsche wins on depreciation but the Lotus edges it on looks, interior and image. I’d imagine driving and reliability are pretty level pegging.

Some people get passed it, but I couldn’t buy a poor man’s Porsche.

GTS is lovely, bu Emira would be my choice.

I hope Lotus sell *relatively* loads (as in much more than they did Evoras, but not enough to make them commonplace).

I sat in an Emira at Royal Artillery Company that had come directly from Goodwood FoS. Plus the other two cars/prototypes.

Really wanted to like it, liked the looks, the cabin - much nicer place than I expected, plus it got the gf seal of approval but I wasn’t impressed with the panel fit and especially the weird rubber seal on the front where the bumper and non opening froot (cos it’s only there for aero) was standing proud of both panels.. apparently the customer ones will have a better finish, but it ruined it for me.
Cheers,

Ian

I think it has to be the Emira right, something a bit special and different….

Yet here comes @IanF spoiling it with his stupid facts based on his own actual experience ;)
Cheers,

Mike.

I can’t help thinking that the more pro Emira people are, the less likely they are to be in a position to buy one.

Its absolutely true as the depreciation is a major factor.

Still no answer then? Surprising.

Also, I suggest you look at the dictionary you refer me to for the correct spelling of the phrase you used. Hence my original point.

Why is there an assumption that depreciation will be worse on the Emira?

Have you looked at used prices for Elise/Exige/Evora? (Which we’re all holding very strong even before todays silliness.
