Logged onto the holding page at 9.00am... then at 9.23am managed to get through to the booking page enetered in our group's registration details... hit 'submit' and got 'page not found'

I'd rather watch it on tv tbh. But then I'm old and stopped being able to stay awake for days 25+ years ago.

They must make an absolute packet off Glastonbury, yet still apparently can't scale up their web servers for a few thousand quid. Mad.

I can't really be bothered with festivals anymore, contemplating going to Transmit for Pulp next year though. Only because it's walking distance from my house

I get what you're all saying about festivals, there's nothing I like more than an early night, comfortable bed and private toilet/shower. However, despite SJ nagging me to go many times, I never acutally went Glasto. There's so much to see that's not on TV so I figured it would be a great experience to visit once.

All of this. I will go at some point and take the caravan, that way I have all of the above mentioned covered. Being solar powered as well now I can go completely off grid with no dramas for a weekend.

The landlord and landlady from my old pub went one year to one of the fancier camp sites - there were rows and rows of pre-pitched tents of various sizes and each section had it's own Toilet and Shower Block. Then, in the middle of three of these "Glamping" areas was a central food place with various food trucks and a bar. All secure - Tickets checked on the way in etc.

All seemed very civilised but I think it was £400 of £500 each on top of the ticket so not exactly cheap.

My friends did that the first time that they went together (he'd been with mates previously) and then last year they'd had a camper so took that. We've known them year so will be able to get a full rundown of prices and the info about doing it that way.
He's been going years to various music festivals and gigs, she's pretty new to it. We used to go to various raves and festivals in the early 90's but they were single night affairs where we'd drive home early in the morning when they finished so a long weekend will be a new one on us.
I think Glastonbury will be comparatively easy going as it seems to finish for the night far earlier (or maybe just my perception) so kicking the arse out of it going 7pm to 7am going hell for leather isn't a thing there. A day spent mooching the stalls, catching act or two, eating food and chilling will be more of the thing in the day before a few bevvies in the evening catching and act or two and then off to the dance tents for a bit before a 1am finish.

TLDR: fuck me I'm getting old and want it to be civilised and not a 12hr debauched drug fest everyday!

Sounds like a great idea in theory, as long as the ‘few bevvies’ doesn’t turn into a few Muswell Hills, simply because “hey, we’re at Glasto, why not!” and the idea of watching solstice sunrise gurning in the stone circle will be a special moment to cherish, albeit closely followed by two days of crying through a new type of middle aged comedown in a resourceless sweatlodge of a Eurohike tent, desperately counting the hours left until the end of the festival.

The combination of quitting drinking and going on ssris is apparently the key to making mandy comedowns a doddle, so I’ve heard.

After saying I probably wouldn’t do another weekend away festival, next year’s Download looks like a belter.

Interesting. Back in the day when I was partying properly, I always held the theory that alcohol was the root cause of most comedowns, because chems extend the alcohol consumption window significantly. Never managed to test the theory though.

Comedowns aren’t what they used to be but I don’t think that the mdma is anywhere near as strong as it used to be either. No glassy eyed gurning happening

The prices for doing it in relative luxury are huge. Plus I have to say I don't know most of the bands / groups these days and the popular ones you see 1 million people there so your experience would be a crush or from the back.

20 years and 3 kids means I'm well past that kind of thing.

Just bought tickets for Arctangent next year, so much for never doing a camping festival again

I genuinely hate camping but still seem to do it once a year to remind myself that I hate it

I'm hoping that because this is a relatively small festival for nerds that it won't be as much of a trial as camping at one of the big festivals.
