It's quite funny that you're like "people are free to go elsewhere" then also acknowledge that elsewhere is either crap or full of far right loons. I wonder why people who have been on twitter for years aren't happy with the way it's going.
When I say 100x worse i meant the type of people there. Which for the people I refer to is probably fine in their eyes.

However this free to go elsewhere or build your own platform has been the standard response when anyone complained about twitter for the past 10 years.
It's a dumb argument though isn't it? It's akin to saying if you don't like some art you try and do better. It's facetious.
I'd say it's more akin to having had a favourite pub for donkeys years. It's got a bit toxic in there of late and you've increasingly had to find a quieter corner to sit in whilst the braying arseholes compete at the bar. Then the ownership changed, and when new rules were brought in and the pub started getting a makeover you decided you didn't like it.

You're free to go to another pub, and you're free to complain about the changes to your favourite old pub.

I’m looking for any sign that it’s a joke but can’t find any. If it is real then Musk really has lost it.

I don't generally look at Tiktok. However, is the lipsync going out of sync a general issue or just on that video? Bit of a fundamental flaw.

ETA: as to whether it is real, he holds up a gmail print-out which appears to have been sent to shaver264@twitter.com - that seems odd, and I thought anyone who was being fired lost access to their twitter e-mail accounts anyway.

As an aside, how come we can delete posts in some threads and not in others…🤔

Edit- actually, it seems I can delete certain posts in threads but not other posts in the same threads. Both similar, both quoting someone else etc.

Has it always been like that ?

I think the key here is "I built the feature that shows you one of elons tweets every time you open the app" which isn't a thing that happens, unless it's got high engagement (which a lot of his tweets do at the moment, obviously)

That just sounds like absolute fucking bollocks to me. That, and there have been no verified accounts (as in, other reports, not $8 blue ticks) of other people being fired by meme in the time since that went viral.

Update 3:00pm CT November 5: Matt Shaver (The Comic in the clip ) elaborated on the situation in an Instagram direct message.

“I made the video as a satirical take on the entire Elon/Twitter situation,” he wrote. “It’s unbelievable how many people believed the obvious joke email, and then blindly shared the video or commented something hateful. If they would have finished the video, or even looked at my profile, they would’ve known it was a joke. So while I’m not surprised it went viral, I’m surprised that so many people believed it.”

I love TikTok, I've belly laughed so many times scrolling through the random funny shit people have way too much time on their hands to create, and the half dressed middle-aged women (no idea why those keep appearing). There is also some teriffic artistic content - musical and otherwise. And I've seen almost no hate.

Making tiktoks - hell no. Leave that to Gav. He's very good at it.

The problem is that satire only works if people recognise it as such

Meta to lay off more than 11,000 staff.

https://news.sky.com/story/facebook-and ... o-12742404

A small line mentions declining Ad revenue and says nothing more about it, strange as it's their one way of actually making money. The declining revenue here points to lower user engagement due to trust issues. Will be interesting to see if twitter turn things around with user trust and engagement post takeover and if Facebook are forced to follow the same path.

That's a lot of staff, Meta being a non starter was predicted though. VR/AR isn't at a useful stage yet and all the blockchain Web 3.0 stuff is toxic.

iOS is getting adjustments to privacy that'll impact advertising, and don't forget Meta pissed $10b into the Metaverse, which no-one wants.

Revenue was down 4% but profit down over 50%
