My theory is that the Beatles aren't very popular. They're obviously a landmark in musical history and had incredible success, however, I can't remember the last time I thought "Oooohhhh, I could really listen to some Beatles right now". On the odd occasion I have put the Beatles on, the music becomes boring fairly quickly.

Yeah, they get played fairly regularly in our household. You can OD on them I think, but once in a while I enjoy them.

Boring as fuck. There's far more interesting stuff to listen to from that era.

Some good tunes later in their career but still overrated. The early "Non Drugs, Mop top" Beatles were, lets admit it, a bit rubbish really

Mervin is right - much better stuff from that era.

Beatles have some great stuff. And some dross.

McCartney’s solo stuff makes my teeth itch.

Magical mystery tour is the only good album

Impressive that the popularity of their music is even getting talked about 60 years after it was released. Whether you like it or not, you still know all those songs.

Not bothered. Never that fussed about them TBH

some songs yeah (usually the he ones i haven't really heard before/for a long time to be fair).

Not bad for a band that broke up over 50 years ago. I think they could be described as "popular".

Most of that 20.6 million will be people checking whether they still like the Beatles or not

I like The Beatles. I don’t tend to put them on because I’ve heard the songs so many times before - that’s equally true of Leftfield, The Chemical Brothers, Nirvana, Guns n Roses, Radiohead, Abba and many other bands whose albums I have owned for 30-odd years.

I don't get bored by old music, I'll happily listen to many of those bands and especially people like Bowie or Pink Floyd, even though I've played many of their records regularly for the last ...errr... thirty years too.

I don't get bored of them, they're just so ingrained in my brain I don't need to play them to be able to 'hear' them.

I completely get this as well. In fact, I think the only ones I've listened to recently have been the RHCPs - Mother's Milk and BSSM

I go through phases where I'll swing wildly between only listening to new music and only listening to old stuff I know I like.

I've been having nostalgia for late 90s early 00s metal at the moment so first Slipknot album, first couple of Korn albums, Deftones etc.
