Nope, Puma will be the smallest EV then two larger SUV/crossovers, then the Mach-E and commercials. https://www.tch.co.uk/news/march-2022/9 ... cles-2024/speedingfine wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 9:08 am Ford's attempt at replacing the Fiesta with an all new electric small car should be interesting though (assume that's what's coming to replace it anyway)
<Insert 'but the Puma's fucking massive' moan here, along with one about it being a shame the Honda E not selling (cos it's £35k)>simon_g wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 4:28 pmNope, Puma will be the smallest EV then two larger SUV/crossovers, then the Mach-E and commercials. https://www.tch.co.uk/news/march-2022/9 ... cles-2024/speedingfine wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 9:08 am Ford's attempt at replacing the Fiesta with an all new electric small car should be interesting though (assume that's what's coming to replace it anyway)
Small ICE cars are tricky to make now, partly not seen as desirable but also fleet average CO2 plus expectations of decent safety and kit but then people say "HOW MUCH for a Fiesta???". Easier upsell into a new model with more room and a bit more height. The cheaper end is dominated by models based on shared platforms with better economies of scale.
The Escort was the mainstay of the Ford range for decades, sold millions and the name got killed off too - but as there was something good replacing it no-one really cared.
That was because of how poor the mk5 was, tainting the Escort name, and Ford wanting to distance its replacement from it.simon_g wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 4:28 pm The Escort was the mainstay of the Ford range for decades, sold millions and the name got killed off too - but as there was something good replacing it no-one really cared.

Can, but profitably?Simon wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 8:41 pm If Peugeot can make an e-208 then Ford can make an e-Fiesta. Lazy sods.
I'm a fan of the Honda e, indeed a massive shame it's priced so high and there are no decent lease deals.speedingfine wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 7:56 pm<Insert 'but the Puma's fucking massive' moan here, along with one about it being a shame the Honda E not selling (cos it's £35k)>simon_g wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 4:28 pmNope, Puma will be the smallest EV then two larger SUV/crossovers, then the Mach-E and commercials. https://www.tch.co.uk/news/march-2022/9 ... cles-2024/speedingfine wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 9:08 am Ford's attempt at replacing the Fiesta with an all new electric small car should be interesting though (assume that's what's coming to replace it anyway)
