Council tax money well spent

Two weeks ago a group of workman turned up on our cul-de-sac and painted a white line to signify where our cul-de-sac ended and the road started. I’ve lived here over twenty years with no white line, I must have had numerous close calls every day not knowing where to stop.

Today a separate group of workmen arrived and resurfaced the whole road, no white lines again

In my parent's village they've just applies about 200 tarmac patches to the road, some about 100 metres long. In total they've probably covered about 50% of the roads. When my Dad spoke with the boss he said it would have been much cheaper to completely resurface all of the roads, but local government had funding from central government for road repairs and could not use it for complete replacement...

But if the complete resurfacing is the repair? God I hate bureaucracy. You need someone in the council and someone in the companies to align and just do the work but write the invoices out wrong

That would be far too sensible!
