Stoopid weight saving claims (aka Urus Performante)

Maybe I am just getting old :geek: but will any of the owners notice a 47kg weight reduction? 2150-ish kg vs 2200-ish kg? Do owners today fill their fuel tanks and swear at the performance drop? :? Or curse their 13yr old when they jump into the passenger seat and ruin the experience?

Of course this is only one of a number of detail changes on the Performante that may combine to give a better overall drive, and yes every improvement is still an improvement, but these weight "boasts" just annoy me. Lambo has been guilty of this in the past - didn't they excitedly highlight a 13kg weight saving on one of the Diablo models? I'd have been ashamed to call that out....

The evo article touches on the marketing aspects - for customers for whom the numbers (pub bragging rights?) may be most important aspect to make (or break) a sale...... :?

These cars aren't made for people that care about anything other than being seen in/having the latest thing.

I think the 16kg saving for the 306 Rallye over the GTi-6 fails into this category as well. Still didn't stop me buying one :D

I still can't believe that these things are so popular they're selling for £50k plus over list for used scratched up examples. It's so ugly and so obviously just a rebodied Audi that I thought they'd depreciate quite a bit.

I like them, would buy one (except I’d now buy a 707), but even I think of them as a rebodied Audi/Cayenne..

And, as you say Mik, it’s not the weight reduction individually that improves the experience, but all the improvements taken as a whole (a-hole snigger)
